This here is the Text Improvement Project (T.I.P.), I call it that because I think S.T.A.L.K.E.R. needs more dots, anyway, my goal for this project is to one day rewrite all the PDA entries which are still Google Translate into fun to read pieces, it will take a while, meanwhile enjoy the text gradually improving.
(Update on progress: This project is not dead, I just won't be updating it for some while as I'm reworking it and it's going to be part of another project. If after this there's still need for the T.I.P. on it's own I will update it. If you really badly want to have regular updates let me know and I might consider it, else just give me time to get everything done nicely, with some luck it's going to be worth the wait, anyway, thanks for the downloads and comments so far, I'm happy to work on this and be part of this community!)
Here is version 0.3 with more updated and improved texts, at this point 10 out of 33 texts of the arc_string_table file are rewritten. Check the included readme to see which ones exactly.
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome and will only help make the text better. Enjoy and good hunting Stalker!
Installation:
Make a backup of the files involved or your whole gamedata folder, or not, up to you, things might break though, probably not, just warning you.
Unpack the archive and copy the gamedata folder into your main game folder. Overwrite when asked.

I will start doing that when nearing completion of a good amount of text aka actual release, right now consider it a very early version, basically only download it if you're interested in the text developing/giving feedback or can't wait.

There won't be new releases for the text improvement project for a while since I'm working on a very very similar project which is needed first, yes, it involves text and yes, it involves Narodnaya Solyanka.
After that I will get back to this project if it's still needed by then. I have a newer version I can upload if there's demand for it, however I prefer to first finish more stuff myself, just let me know.
wow this is awesome. I am really pleased to see someone translate that mess that google made. Thank you very much for spending time out of your life doing this for everyone else. If i knew Russian i would do it also.
Thanks, I btw don't speak Russian, I know some but not enough to even form a simple coherent phrase. I just read the Google Translate stuff really carefully, then rewrite it to make sense or if I can't make any sense out of it I either delete the part or write my own stuff.
Next version of this will be even more different from the original text as I'm entirely rewriting it and leaving only the base of the story intact, hopefully making it more mature and fun to read. Some of the original text can be incredibly cheesy.
