Most if not all of you think NovaCor met the fate of most other Mods. It may have; it may not have. NovaCor is not dead, but not alive either. I dont know how else to explain it.

What happened to halt development was the Source SDK update that happened right around when the Mod short-circuited. And thats about literally what happened. The update broke nearly everything I had done with the AI. Most of the maps were shoved halfway off the Hammer Grid, so they were completely ruined. It was like Valve decided to take months of work and just toss it into a blender, then turn it on while Gabe stared me dead in the eye.

But Im left with all the assets, the ideas, and the memory of what I had. I still have everything hiding out on a storage drive, occasionally peeking out, looking around and disappearing again. I still brainstorm levels when I have down time, and story, and all of the things I did before. I just havent done anything tangible in months....years even. The final nail in the - well, the Mod isnt dead so there arent any nails in any coffins yet. Anyway, the last straw was my animator and modeler drifting off and ceasing production. I dont do those things and having done everything else, there simply wasnt time and wont be time to learn to make complex models and animate them too.

And so, NovaCor is not quite dead, but not yet alive. It is in a slumber. However, I was bitten by the Modding bug and that never goes away. I recently dumped a few weeks time into a 7 Days To Die Mod. It was simple, remedial modding at best. Something I knew I could accomplish alone, or with the help of a few friendly forum-goers. And I did. That project will be live on my Dedi tomorrow.

And who knows. I may just fire up the Source SDK again.

Its looks like a next generation "System Shock 2" and that really is an exciting prospect. And it seems to get better with every update! looking forward to playing this, Maybe a short demo soon?

I am still torn between releasing a demo and not. The mission structure and map progression would make it tough to do that and encompass all of the gameplay aspects. That would lead to an incomplete first impression, and I dont want that. Some maps are combat oriented and others are mostly puzzles. Including one or the other would not do the Mod justice overall. than you have the fact that Id be releasing many of my models, textures and NPCs to the public; and many would surely pop up on sites such as Gamebanana...something I also want to avoid. At least, until the project is complete. I have already been asked for my Infected NPCs in the past and I really do not want to release them to anyone until the Mod is done.

That said, its not completely out of the question :)

It will play more like a cross between Perfect Dark and half Life 2, so don't get your hopes up for a System Shock 2 style Mod. Ive drawn a lot of comparasin to it in the past, and while I appreciate it, I dont want people to feel 'let down' when the game isnt a whole lot like SS2. I never played it and thought I had an original, almost old-school look; so nothing in NovaCor is modeled after System Shock 2. Hopefully I will still create a fun and engaging Mod for all those SS2 fans to play :D

It has the nice futuristic look of System Shock 2 but will play how it plays! The vids are a great way to sample your mod so you do not need to release a demo if you do not want to. Us players waited forever for Black Mesa Source, so we can wait for Novacor. Keep up the good work.

I get that a LOT! I honestly dont see the comparasin; but admittedly I never actually played System Shock 2. I just looked through tons of screens after getting the comparasins. I do embrace it though, because everyone seems to mean it in a good way :)

It's the look and feel of the environment and the UI... hard to explain but I'm amazed it's not directely inspired by that game.
If you haven't played it I can't recommend it enough. It's an amazing game and scary as hell.

I will definitely check it out. I myself was surprised at the sheer number of comments comparing the two. It did make me feel like I was doing something right though; to draw such comparasins on something I was building and thought to be original. I was really going for a feel of the old-school days of FPS gaming, and it seems I hit the nail on the head!

Now I just have to come up with the funds to get my domain name back. Hopefully by the end of May; but I did just have to buy a new lawnmower and am in need of a MIG Welder.
