Most if not all of you think NovaCor met the fate of most other Mods. It may have; it may not have. NovaCor is not dead, but not alive either. I dont know how else to explain it.

What happened to halt development was the Source SDK update that happened right around when the Mod short-circuited. And thats about literally what happened. The update broke nearly everything I had done with the AI. Most of the maps were shoved halfway off the Hammer Grid, so they were completely ruined. It was like Valve decided to take months of work and just toss it into a blender, then turn it on while Gabe stared me dead in the eye.

But Im left with all the assets, the ideas, and the memory of what I had. I still have everything hiding out on a storage drive, occasionally peeking out, looking around and disappearing again. I still brainstorm levels when I have down time, and story, and all of the things I did before. I just havent done anything tangible in months....years even. The final nail in the - well, the Mod isnt dead so there arent any nails in any coffins yet. Anyway, the last straw was my animator and modeler drifting off and ceasing production. I dont do those things and having done everything else, there simply wasnt time and wont be time to learn to make complex models and animate them too.

And so, NovaCor is not quite dead, but not yet alive. It is in a slumber. However, I was bitten by the Modding bug and that never goes away. I recently dumped a few weeks time into a 7 Days To Die Mod. It was simple, remedial modding at best. Something I knew I could accomplish alone, or with the help of a few friendly forum-goers. And I did. That project will be live on my Dedi tomorrow.

And who knows. I may just fire up the Source SDK again.

Why thank you! Im very pleased that readers are saying it reminds them of Doom and some other older games - I was going for an 'old school charm' with this one :)

Why "The Fringe" now? I think The Siege sounded a bit more interesting, that is if it actually preined to the story. Oh well, Fringe doesnt sound bad either :P

Well, the station wasnt exactly under siege, though I suppose it could be considered that way with the disappearance of the crew and what happened to them. I am still indecisive on Frine or Siege, but for now, Fringe fits the theme better as the station is located on the edge of explored space. Personally, I liked The Siege much better but I think it implies much more shooting than will occur. 'The Siege' sounds to me like you'll be defending the station from waves of enemies, and that isnt the case.

Ill decide later on whether or not to keep it "the Siege' after careful consideration :) It could very well fit, because one definition is 'a persistent and serious attack' which definitely does fit the story.

maybe you should create an automated radio broadcast that you can pick up from a datapad or something? It could play music, give you a station layout, give subtle hints at certain areas or heck just give you creepy messages. I just thought that would be cool

I didnt think of playing music or station layout (which are two very good ideas!) but there will be datapads (with some other name) that will give some backstory as to whats going on and have those creepy messages, as well as contain hints as to what to do next - or what to look for.

I think a station map is a great idea; that will most likely make it in. Music, maybe, but I wont promise anything on that just yet :)

The walls actually remind me a bit of Doom, not sure why, perhaps there were walls with those sort of shapes in Doom. But look very nice and original.

Just one thing, please add some really nice background audio. That sort of soft and quiet air conditioning/electrical hum is really nice, with a few soundspots (point sounds? whatever they are called :P )at various points with vents. I've always felt it adds just as much to the overall atmosphere as much as the graphics/lighting.

Heh yep, kind of inspired by Doom and moreso by Quake 4. Definitely not anything I actually saw though - this is 100% my own work.

As for the sounds, yes there will be lots of ambience beyond the standard background noise. I am also hoping to implant some guitar riffs backed by techno that fades in and out of some of the intense battles and other sequences. (I play and use Cakewalk Music Creator) The music wont be overbearing and loud, but kind of additional background to help get the heart pumping during those sequences :)
