Noontide is a high-speed Hack'n'Slash in a similar spirit to Devil May Cry.

Noontide’s core mechanics revolve around the MODE system, which stands for Mobile Offensive Defensive Elucidating system.

Hi guys, it should be pretty obvious by now that Noontide missed the MSUC phase 4 submission deadline. The only reason I can really think of is that the team underestimated the task of compiling all the content we've been developing, ambitious targets were set and with it large dependencies, lesson learnt.

Today I have footage displaying segments of the completed components ranging from maps to new mechanics and features. I have in mind to release a functional version in the next few weeks but as always my restlessness will get the better of me, so things might be a little different.


On a more official note the Noontide team has expanded and I'm happy to acknowledge the people who have dedicated time to the project.

Wait i extracted the file but how do i launch the game itself is it in its own exe. or is it in the game under a type or something?

Noontide is a Gametype not a TC, so you run it with your standard UT3 shortcut.
From there you play Noontide just like you set up a standard Deathmatch game though instead you select the gametype 'In the Demon's Hand'
then accept all the stock settings game settings like bot count (cause they don't do anything) and start the game.

If you don't see 'In the Demon's Hand' with the rest of your game modes, it's a problem with the installation directory. If that's the case reply to this comment with the directory you placed the files in.

Anyway I put revised instructions for Installing Noontide in the description on the download page.

well i put mine in c:/programfiles/unrealtournament3/utgame/cookedPC (not exact copy/paste text) if thats an issue on where i exactly put it it's worked for my other mods (for E.X. invasion games) but somehow i fell the directions are very vauge :/

yeah that's a directory problem, use the directory in the instructions

Looks amazing but in future ver can you make the weapon slashing more smoother. it stops instantly which i (and maybe other people) dislike... Very doubtful that it will hurt the game but it'll look much nicer in vids =D

Shortly after the release, my brother and I actually put together a aesthetic upgrade build for Noontide but it didn't include dramatic gameplay changes for us to upload.

That said it's already been done, the attack slows after the strike and the holstering animation starts earlier and has been slowed down.

i have a problem... i put the noontide file into where the readme says to go to but i dont see it as a selectable gametype nor map help?

Either way is it possible that you are running UT3 in unpublished mode?
If that's not the case then either check out your directory again or post up where you've currently placed the Noontide folder and I'll help you from there

I had a few local complaints that suggested I shouldn't use the term "Paste Folder" when it really should be "Extract Folder" so the instruction update should have been put up a while ago.

Well to put it simply UnrealScript cannot be encrypted (As far as I know) so the "Source code" for Noontide can be viewed right now by opening the Noontide.u file you downloaded.

The only thing I ask is if you use the code as inspiration for your own project, chuck me in your credits =)

Anyway as a coding convention I should probably make an "Official" header to credit the work but for the moment just put down my name and reference Noontide.
