You wake up in the middle of a cave, why do you think you're there...? Nobody Knows is my first custom story and it's quite short, you can expect atleast from 15-30 min play time. Justine Pack is required!

This custom story looked promising, but eventually I quit playing in the Private Archives as it appearntly was called. The problems were multiple things.

Firstly, I liked how you tried to not give the player as much oil and then had to choose to walk in the dark instead, but I felt like the entire maps was just that. Dark. The windows didn't really give away that much light and there were nearly no actual useful light sources around you. Try next time make the lights and candles to give off more light, like some pointlights or something that makes it a little bit easier.

So, I began the custom story but I had to check the Level Editor very early in the game since I had no idea where I had to go. Then I found out that the first place to go to (which would lead to the next level) was hidden right underneath the player where the game started. The first **** punch.

Then we got to some tunnel pathways with welders put everywhere (looked pretty cool actually) but then when I went one pathway, I saw some sort of shake start. No sound was played. I went on in the same pathway and then I heard the pathway collapse behind me. Eventually I realized that I was trapped. The front pathway was blocked and so was the one behind me. The game realized that too and it automatically killed me. And then the death message.. "You have to be more careful!" Are you f**king kidding me? The second **** punch.

And then the Private Archives. I unlocked a door with a key (found it pretty easy) and then I saw that there was all the doors in there was locked. I eventually found another key which unlocked one of the doors. In there eventually, I found a hollow needle and a brute spawned. Since there was a closet nearby, I thought that it would be a good idea to hide. I was wrong. Instead it ended with the brute getting stuck in one of the doorways, which forced me to kill myself to get him away. "You have to be more careful"! ...

After that I was "Nope". But great level design.

6/10 - Descent

Positives:

- Intresting and creative level design
- Some nice puzzles
- Challange

Negatives:

- Confusing as hell
- Story is extremely bland and poorly made
- A lot of events made no sense
- You don't have to merge anything

Conclusion:

*Spoiler warning*

This mod is more frustrating than fun to play. The story is almost non-existence with zero character development whatsoever.

Who am I playing as? Why did I wake up in the middle of a cave? Who is the owner of the castle? Why did he torture people? What are the monsters doing there and why do they want me killed?

So many questions, none of them ever explained.

What to improve:

Make a deeper and more meaningful story. A story about a guy that likes to torture people isn't bad, but you didn't work much on it besides that. You explained a little bit why he did it in one note, but that was basicly it.

I went, in the first map, to a room and picked up a note. I turned out I had to then go back to the start area and a hidden path was suddenly revealed. That made no sense at all, and if it wasn't for your hints, I would have never found that out either.

I then crawled around a vent and decided to go forward. A cave in collapsed behind me and I was trapped. I died for no reason a few seconds later. Hint: "Be more careful".

A note said "I afraid that I'm starting to feel compassion for my victims." "I'm to afraid of what my master might do to me if I show I'm weak. This letter must not be found!" So why did he make that note to begin with? Keep that for yourself in your head if you are afraid of what the master (who ever that was) will do to you.

---------------

Level design is great for the most part and you show a lot of creativity, but it was so confusing I had to look in the hints or the level editor several times to figure out what to do because nothing in this story made any sense.

And you don't have to merge anything. Just place the folders in the story folder. It works fine.

5/10 - Average

Not bad!But the story is not disclosed...
And in the beginning it was difficult to navigate where to go=(fortunately, there is a passing mod from swankest!)
maps 8\10
story 4\10

In short: Looks good but lacks everything else

Positives:

- Great level design for the most part
- Music was fine

Negatives:

- Nonsense and nonexisting story
- Too much key hunting
- First map was misleading and vague as hell
- Bad grammar for the most part

Story: 2/10

I don't know anything that was happening. First, we had a start of a story with Nicolas torturing Daniel. Two notes later we hopped to a story of a life elixir, and after this the creator gave jackshit about the story with no more notes. The notes were also badly written, and there was no visual storytelling. Pure confusion.

Level Design: 8/10

The design was great all around. There were some empty parts especially near the end, but for the most time the levels looked nice with some creativity in them.

Puzzles: 3/10

Mostly finding items from a room to get to another room. What was the point of the strong needle? It unlocked an useless door.

Scare Factor: 3/10

Some surprising monster events, but other than that, it lacked scary atmosphere and the feeling of pressure.

Overall: A below average story. Nothing remarkably bad, but nothing to praise for either.

Score: 4/10

Nice surprise. I hated the start but the mod delivered a solid hour of fun gameplay, had a great atmosphere and a solid level design.

Quite good! Dark atmoshpere and good scares. Nice level design. Story is ok. Unfortunately a lot of puzzles are keys searching.

Pretty good.

Well unfortunately I didn't get very far at all. Also there's virtually zero intuitiveness. You travel to a cell fairly quickly, to find a note on the desk, and a locked door. I was assuming there was supposed to be a key somewhere in the cell (which wasn't the case it seems) so i spent a good 10 minutes failing at trying to barrel clip through the cell door. I backtracked a bit and looked around for a short time and couldn't find anywhere to go.

I checked a dudes youtube video and somehow he managed to fall into the standard tunnel system right at the beginning, which I couldn't for the life of me figure out how he managed to do that, don't think he got very far either. Either way terrible custom story, would need to be completely redesigned to be viable.

Not bad at all.

The name suits to this custom story. While there is no storyline at all and the levels are sometimes tricky, I liked the overall design and ideas. It could use more creative ideas for the puzzles which are mostly key-based.
