Weapon Updates

The next few updates will obviously of course, introduce new tools for you to kill zombies with. The Abrasive Saw for instance is much lighter and uses less fuel than the Chainsaw. However, you'll have to get in much closer to cut up the undead.

We're also working on refining our preexisting weapon inventory. In particular, we've been working on adding items to help add more variance to the guns you can find, along with animated selective fire. Will these things lead to an actual proper attachment system? Time will tell if it will.

PvP Mode

We've been prototyping a new gamemode that deals with Player vs Player conflict for quite some time. More will be revealed later, but if you've enjoyed the Supply Raid mode in The Last of Us, our PvP mode will be similar to that sort of experience.

Human NPCs

We've promised these for quite some time but finally we're getting work done on these guys. We'll most likely release the Bandit NPC in the next big patch if everything goes as planned. In terms of behavior, Bandits will be able to maneuver through the maps independently and fluidly (like a human player) in search for loot, and will shoot you on sight. They can ambush you as well, if you aren't careful!

That was a lot of questions... I can say that yes, a lot of that stuff is already in the mod but some of the stuff which we had originally planned (food, water) have been cut and things like akimbo weapons and the like have never been planned for NMRIH. We had a backpack system but it was scrapped for not matching the pace of the game. We are going for a simpler system to allow trading of ammo, weapons and objective-related items.

What weapons are you planning to make?

I would love to have a M60 in game, which could have 100rounds per clip/Magazine and 200-300 reload ammo.

A minigun with 500rounds that can't be refilled. When it's out of ammo, it will be dropped.

Rocketlauncher like in Resident evil that has 4 rocket 'holes ' meaning it can fire 4 rockets. You could ofcourse tweak it like, you cannot move while you are firing it and it makes you slower.

Flamethrower would be like minigun, but with like only 200 ammo and when it's out of ammo, it'll get dropped.

Grenade launcher could be 1 shot at a team one, so you could have like 30 grenades maximum.

You know, those heavy weapons :) Because if it's going to be alot of zombies, you will need to be able to have stronger firepower. It would be a real nice zombie slaughter then =D

Maybe add fixed guns too or a sentry gun that back you up and shoot untill its all out of ammo, It would be a nice defence ^^
Just throwing ideas of weapons and gameplay.

One or two heavier weapons here and there would be quite a nice touch, but too much and you will totally lose the survival feeling imo, the feeling that you are trapped, that you are on the edge of surviving, that they hunt you down and ammunition is low. The RE-feeling ;)

We will have a few heavier weapons, military/police gear. Very rare, but worth it.

I first heard about this mod on a very recent PC Gamer (US) podcast and as a zombie entertainment enthusiast couldn't pass it up looking in to it. I have been through the available maps, on the few servers that pop up in the server list, and this is a fantastic zombie mod because it will make you concerned by zombies again and not just because the ammo is sparse. The zombies are tough to put down with anything less than hit to their dome. Its often better to try to run past the zombies than engage…
