Patch 1.07.9 Now Available on Steam

1.07.9 is finally out. It introduces a new weapon, a new survival map, a new objective map, and a few dozen fixes. Also, you can now quickly find servers you can start playing right away in. Click "Add common tags..." on the bottom right of the server browser and select "Spawning:Active" to only list servers where there are at least 25 seconds left for spawning.

Future Plans

We haven't talked much about the future plans of NMRiH, so let's do that real quick, shall we? Our top priority right now is useability. We realize that people are frustrated with too much downtime during death and waiting for new rounds to begin. In 1.07.9 we introduced the very first step (a small one albeit) in making the game easier to play, thus more fun. The common tags mentioned above. This is just a small thing and we have bigger changes planned, primarily to Objective mode. We have listened to the feedback over this, but if you'd like to further discuss it head over to our Forum or just post your concerns and suggestions in the comments below!

As for second priorities, new content is always being created. We have a couple new features that are close to done, but we don't want to make any promises or tease anything until we have them actually in the game and ready.

As always, thanks for playing!

Extra Note: If your sound is glitchy, please head to your SteamApps/common/nmrih/nmrih folder and delete the following files:

  • modelsounds.cache
  • nmrih.vpk.sound.cache
  • sound.cache (this one's located at common/nmrih/nmrih/sound)

Extra Extra Note: Steam will automatically install this update, FYI.

We have an update up on our website. Since ModDB is a pain to write up posts for, Dman757 will be putting up amalgamated posts on ModDB at the end of the month with everything from the weekly updates on our site plus the audio updates.

If you want to see the update ahead of time, feel free to drop by our website!

I just wanna mention three things:

1. The zombies appear really weak here. I hope they are going to be stronger and absorb more hits in the final version.

2. It would be great, if you could make a repel animation with all of your weapons (like in L4D) to push back a bunch of zombies, if they come to close.

3. Zombies could stagger/sway backwards, if you hit them.

1.) All the hits in the video are either headshots or charged melee attacks

2.) We already have both shove and bash animations for every weapons :)

3.) Character and NPC animations are still very much WIP.

Thank you for the fast reply!

1. K, so they are much tougher, than L4D zombies I hope. :) How much can they take?

2. Great! I hope the zombies are also going to stagger backwards, if you shove/bash them (that is, what I loved in L4D for example).

3. I understand.

No. I had considered implementing interiors but it would result in very "picky" collision for Source which would end up causing the player to bounce around, get stuck, or just generally have trouble navigating.

I first heard about this mod on a very recent PC Gamer (US) podcast and as a zombie entertainment enthusiast couldn't pass it up looking in to it. I have been through the available maps, on the few servers that pop up in the server list, and this is a fantastic zombie mod because it will make you concerned by zombies again and not just because the ammo is sparse. The zombies are tough to put down with anything less than hit to their dome. Its often better to try to run past the zombies than engage…

This is not nearly what I expected. Kinda disappointed so far.
