Rules
- Must be less than 7,500 words.
- Must be grammatically correct throughout.
- It must be written by YOU.
- Must be descriptive with some emphasis on setting for the sake of our level designers.
- Must be as realistic as a zombie apocalypse can be. That means no mutants or weird science fiction stuff.
The NMRiH community has created some great fan fiction in the past and continues to write some amazing stories to this day. It was these stories that inspired us to create the universe surrounding our mod. Now it’s up to you to help us expand our universe. For NMRiH canon see our story section. And for some inspiration see what our community has written in the fan fiction forum!
A few things to note when writing for our canon:
- Zombie outbreak started in 2010 somewhere between the months of July-September.
- The majority of our maps currently take place in New York. Although you may use any location in the world you wish.
- We encourage you to make up characters rather than use ours.
- Animals can not become undead. If infected they will die. Human Zombies only.
- There may be fast runner zombies and slow shamblers only. (of any age) No alternative zombie types.

In July of 2010, DJ Puddy was doing a set at a club in the city of New York. The sound system that was in place was one of the most bass implied set ups that anyones ever seen. As Puddy played his first track of his vinyl, right as the bassline dropped, it caused a massive shake that broke windows, set off car alarms and could be heard from blocks away. A group of scientist were working on an unstable chemical that was to cure a very uncommon disease not far from the night club. The bassline hit, the vial broke, and scientist died due to glass falling from them from above. Their hearts started to beat and they rose. As police came to shut down the loud noise comin from the club, a few injured pedestrians showed up, endrenched in blood, their degrading skin covered in cuts. People went to assist and were attacked by them and a large confusion occured within the area. Within hours contact with the city was lost...
o and it all happend on the 4th and DJ Puddy was just starting it, the headliner was to be deadmau5, but thankfully he made it back to canada... Teh eNd

but a map in New York with zombies and music playing at a distance doesnt sound too bad, I can see alot of lighting effects being used :O. Kinda like Club Doom

On july 2011, (some food company) injected a virus into their popular products to see how it would affect their consumers.
This was all orchestrated in co-operation with other companies and government officals to reduce the population and have a nifty bio-weapon to anyone opposing the States.
Before the people of New York could ask any questions as to why, who, or what was the cause ??? the people were in for a hell of a ride.

What do you mean by "used by the team?" One of the main prizes of this event is to hopefully use the winner as a background/concept for a map.

Just about done with the story. Probably going to be over 2,000 words. I hope you enjoy it. By the way, will you respond with your comments to each submission? Or will you release your comments at the end of the contest?

Heh, I actually wrote a zombie story a long time ago... wasn't bad. But I would LOVE to see a map located near the White House... heh, maybe I can write another one! :D
