This is the semi-auto civilian version of the Savz58. CZ 858. It was first made for the Canadian firearms market to fit in the canadian regulations. This is the short barrel version "Tactical"
Overall approximate AK batch which has been released off Russian army surplus is about 10 million units. And guess where all of them are? Syria, Iraq, Vietnam etc
The chances of finding a Type 3 milled receiver AK-47 or an original Russian manufacture AKM are decently slim in the U.S., I will concede. But to say that the vz.58 pattern is more common than the AK pattern in the U.S. is ridiculous. WASRs, Saigas, VEPRs, AMDs, Zastavas, they're all over the place. I'd probably say they're the second most common semi-automatic rifle pattern in the U.S.A., right before the AR-15.
Because the vz.58 is really a better rifle. It's smaller and lighter even with a milled receiver, the short-stroke piston system offers an accuracy advantage over the AK's long-stroke piston system (because there's less weight shifting around in the gun when the piston hits the bolt carrier instead of being attached to the bolt carrier, thereby reducing muzzle flip), and it's machined to much tighter tolerances as well.
I wouldn't mind having an AK as well though, since the AK is still a fine rifle. Maybe an AMD-65.
Aside from having a completely different interior and mechanism, the gross of them being semi-automatic and the only reason they look alike being the fact that Czech got sucked into the eastern bloc back in the day, it also handles exactly the same, but is adjusted in such a way that it's pretty hard if not impossible to convert to a fully-automatic, hence why it's legal in some countries.
Thankfully, we have no need for weapons here as we can reason with people, if not bash their skulls in with a 2x4 and still get a lot farther than countries with guns.
So then is the rifle going to be military issue w/ full auto? Or are we getting a civilian version that's semi? And will it use the same rounds as the SKS? If so, we may need larger boxes for 7.62x39.
You cant really blame people for thinking that this is an AK. True, the picture's tital says its real name but at a first glance it really does look like an AK.
Most people here just try to hard to be smartasses and double check everything on wikipedia to make a smart comment on a forum (i know, its very sad but its the way it is) and they are VERY hard on people who say something incorrect..
Will it have the maple leaf carved into the wood like the 858-2? I know Maxx probably chose the 858 on purpose because it's a Canadian market version so why not go all the way?
(I realize this is a stupid question, since the screenshots clearly show its absence)
I considered it, honestly I did! I modeled this one after my friend's personal CZ858 but I opted to leave the maple engraving off since the majority of our maps are US bound.... Though, now that I think about it.. **** the USA and maybe I should sneak it on there ;)
It's not an AK (may be be based off it), but it looks like it. Honestly, if you love paying attention to detail, it's a good choice. An AK47 has a firing rate of incredibly ******* high (almost never seen in games) and a force that allows it to knock down a brick wall in 1-2 magazines ( 3-6 seconds. That would make it pretty much overpowered in... well most games. Now I don't know about this gun, but I suppose it differs in those points AND reliability (bad experiences with Romanian AKs).
This weapon is VZ.58 is it Czechoslovakia combat rifle ... This weapon still using slovak army. This weapon fire same ammo like AK 47 (7,62x39mm)it is good weapon
inb4 People calling it an AK.
I don't know, but it looks like Sa58.
I don't know, just thinking.
it is a Sa58
CZ 858
The original czech one is a Vz-58 Brits call it an SA-58 tho
*Looks at title of weapon.* I don't know...I'm pretty sure it's a CZ 858...
ye its a zastava

Lol, I don't see why they didn't use a more common AK variant, instead of this random semi-ugly looking rifle.
Because AK is much harder to acquire (or find) than this one
Really? I thought there were 100+ mil of them, apparently, considering all variants altogether.

Awesome! but weird alternative to the AK-47.cool none the less.
It is based off AK none the less
99.9% of all "new" designs are derivatives of previous designs.
Other then outward appearance the Vz58 is not based off the AK in anyway

But wasn't the older vz58 fully automatic? I seem to remember a television show(not the best source I know) with full-auto vz58-ish weapons.
I believe this is the civilian version of the rifle. I know the one the Czech Republic military use is full auto and semi auto.

It'll definitely shoot bullets
You want a cookie?
^Confirmed for Brawl^
Another assault rifle? I'll take it.

This looks like the weapon of choice for Bandit NPCs.
Why?

If you don't know guns, then yes maybe.

Funniest thing is when people try being a smartasses, trying to convince that this is AK, they don't bother reading picture title at all whatsoever

Who says it couldn't have been smuggled into the US by black market dealers?

The vz58 is famous for being more reliable than the AK47
Really? I wanna see a link to that. I love reading about guns.
Wow, ******* liar. Why dont you just make Ak74
This weapon is VZ.58 is it Czechoslovakia combat rifle ... This weapon still using slovak army. This weapon fire same ammo like AK 47 (7,62x39mm)it is good weapon
i cant wait for the next release C:
best free zombie game i ever played !
Hey, have you ever thought about releasing a few tools that you use to make maps so that the community doesnt have to rely on you for them?
I'n my country MURCA' , i think you all know it, it's quite easy to get your hands on an AK or AK variant, atleast for me.
Well, The only thing I have against this rifle is the stock or the grip.
