Mod Of The Year 2013 Editors Choice - Best Singleplayer Mod

Please install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 runtimes before installing the mod itself!

Initial Story
In 2049, unsavory conditions are rampant throughout the world. As soon as it becomes clear that a terrorist attack in Shenzhen, China, was carried out by perpetrators with ties to international groups and that Hong Kong may be their next target - the United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO) dispatches their first nano-augmented agent, Mad Ingram, into the city to prevent the situation from escalating any further.

Deus Ex: Nihilum (DXN, DEN or Nihilum for short) is a First Person Shooter mod taking place in an alternate Deus Ex continuity. It features new made-from-scratch original content, while also extensively featuring material from the UNATCO Born mod (used with permission from fender2k1, UB's project leader) and Deus Ex: Revision (used in accordance with the mod's license).

* Over 13,000 downloads in its first year!
* Completely new score with 80+ tracks (over 2 hours of music
* 2,200+ lines (more than 3.5 hours of audio)
* 7-13 hours of gameplay (estimate based on testers' playthrough times)
* Three new weapons: the Walther P99 pistol, Light Machine Gun 2049, Gauss Gun (EMP)
- Exploration is everything! Treat the levels as mazes and prepare for back-tracking! While it can be baffling that people are leaving valuable items and other belongings out in the open, agent Ingram doesn't seem to mind!
- Save often and use several savegame slots! This will hopefully save you a lot of time when it comes to handling certain odd issues.
- Encrypted datacubes: Remember, once you've hacked an encrypted datacube, you have to click on it again to make the datacube information window disappear.
- General rule on hacking: Keep in mind that you do not need this skill to advance the main plot itself. However, its general usefulness cannot be underestimated!
* One of the Top 100 mods in 2013 Mod of the Year Awards!

Deus Ex: Nihilum - Wallpaper 02 - Emblem

"Aside from the weak voice acting, Nihilum would even qualify as a commercial add-on for the original Deus Ex." - Lassi Lapintie, Pelit 8/2013

Big thanks to everyone who featured the mod!

Additional thanks to everyone who voted DXN into MOTY 2013 Top 100!

Deus Ex: Nihilum was also reviewed by the most prominent Finnish gaming magazine, Pelit, in their August 2013 issue (thus also fulfilling one of my earliest goals when it came to editing games). Suuret kiitokset!

Naturally, it's obvious that you can't please everyone and DXN certainly did receive plenty of feedback from all parts of the spectrum (you can read some of my follow-up thoughts from the anniversary retrospective). However, after going through all the trouble to finish the mod, I was very glad to find out that my efforts were appreciated by fellow DX editors like Trasher64 and {zXc}Henry from Deus Ex: Revision and SilverSpook from Terminus Machina. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the reception the mod got.

And remember, if you have any questions related to DXN's performance (or something else), CHECK THE FAQ FIRST! And if that doesn't help, the quickest way to reach me is by e-mail. I'll try to reply back as soon as I can/if I can!

I'm glad that there are multiple DXN playthrough videos on YouTube - some raising valid thoughts! If you want to see a 100% complete playthrough of DXN, here are at least two playthroughs worth checking out!

Deus Ex: Nihilum - Queens, New York City

To sum things up/TL;DR: With critical acclaim from most of the players, fellow notable DX editors, ModDB and the gaming press, Deus Ex: Nihilum was a definite success! I really can't thank you enough! :]

And last, but definitely not least, I sincerely hope that Deus Ex will receive plenty of great mods in the future. :] In the mean time, check these mods out!

Maybe I broke the mod or something is missing. Second map you are supposed to kill some cop. There is though no information given and in the entire map I can not find any kind of cop with the matching name. It looks like all went stale. Some special order you have to do things in or did I manage to bug the mod? :P

Well, Yoon gives you a photo of the apartment's entrance (and Yakedo's map also has the location marked). There are alternate entrances as well.

I got neither (meaning Yoon gave me nothing and now repeats the same one-liner forever) of that nor is there anybody in any of the appartments I broke into yet. Is it supposed to be around the QuickShop somewhere?

I just wanna add that I'm also having difficulty with the chopper - I've actually had a slew of errors come up while playing this mod, but I'll save those for my review.

Okay well, I talked to him, then I talked to the tech lady, then I started waiting for the helicopter.

:\ I'm really sorry, nothing like this ever occured in that scene during the testing phase(s). But after the MPS Doctor (or Lana) told you go to meet with the director, did you even have a mission debriefing convo with him or did it go to the AI barks (i.e. one-liners) immediately?

What happened was: I exited the bathroom after the hotel mission to get Yoon. I talked to the doctor then walked down the hallway and talked to Chen. I entered a conversation and he congratulated me on the mission. I selected the option which gave Lt. Lien credit in the mission. Then Chen tells me that Manderly wants to see me and tells me to go to the helipad. I go there, no chopper. So I go back downstairs and find the tech lady. She talks to me, tells me to go see Chen (after I already talked to him). I go talk to him, one liners. Back to the helipad, still no chopper. And that's where we are. I tried entering the cheat you mentioned in the command prompt, nothing happened.

Open your shortcut's options and put -hax0r after fgrhk.exe, so it looks something like ..\System\fgrhk.exe -hax0r . Open the game, press Y or T or the button which gives you the text field on the bottom of your screen. Type: legend and press enter. Open the map 61_HongKong_MPSHelipad and try to get the chopper to appear again. If it doesn't, use the legend-menu to open the next map, which is 62_Berlin_AirborneLab.

Okay. I just used the legend to skip ahead. Now I just have to figure out why I'm in a cell for some reason. Thanks for your help. It's preferable to starting the game over again.
