In Nightmare House 2 you wake up inside an abandoned hospital with no understanding of how you came to be there, only a vague memory of the girl from Nightmare House haunts you. Soon it will be difficult to determine between a dream and reality. How long will it take you to realize that escape is not an option?
BEHOLD!! Jumpscare Haven!
Im NOT KIDDING! CinnamonToastKen did a lets play series of this and i got scared so much!!
I don’t play horror mods as a rule; I generally hate the excessive zombie killing that is so prevalent in theses games. So why do I give this a maximum score? Simply because it is the most outstanding Half Life 2 mod I have ever played!
The prologue is the weakest part and that itself is a scary little masterpiece of thrills and scares!
The rest of the mod set in that amazingly scary “Never Lose Hope Hospital” is epic horror action al the way!
There’s even a good horror back-story to!
The graphics are very good with lots of satisfyingly artistic blood-splatter for those budding “Dexter’s” and a good creepy level of grime.
The atmosphere is enhanced by inspired use of sound effects and some great scene setting music, giving this player a sense of unease every step of the way, along with moments of heart pounding shock!
This would make one hell of a great horror film!
But it makes for a great game, one I would not have touched if I hadn’t seen some play-through footage on “YouTube”, during some surfing!
I never thought the best HL2 mod would be a horror!
Congratulations to the creators of such a wonderful masterpiece of the modder’s art……
PS. I don’t know which was the most disturbing, those dark shadow people, or those faceless mannequins!
This is without a single doubt the best mod I have ever played on ANY game! The game play was absolutely brilliant! Easily longer that several of Valves own games, with a thrilling story that stays interesting and constantly keeps you on your toes... this made me jump more than a few times! Plus it even managed to mix in some humor as well! I did laugh at several parts (as well as cry at some others -_-) and enjoyed the story the whole time I played this mod! This is some of the best scripting I've ever seen and the scary factor never gets stale. Thank you for making this wonderful mod available to everyone! It's not often you find a diamond like this in the rough! I look forward to playing more mods from WeCreateStuff!
10/10 easy :D
Fantastic Mod! You guys should make a Nightmare House 3! You did so great on NH2! =D
I wasn't expecting much when I first installed this game, just a quick source level buzz seemed to be my only motive of playing this mod. Little did I know there was more to it in every way. Right-Off-the-Bat, it is easy to see the amount of quality that was put into this game. If you happen to own the second episode of the Half-Life 2 series, you should be ashamed of yourself if you have never played through this game...I mean mod!
Awesome game,I think everyone should play it at least once
Jesus, I nearly crap my pants every 5 seconds, great mod. I loved the part in Nightmare House 1 where all the beds flew up in the air and it's awesome that it happened again in NH2. I also liked the little Cloverfield reference in there "I just can't stop thinking how scary it would be if a flaming homeless guy came out of the dark right now" that was a nice bit a comic relief.
This game is essentially "what would happen if we took F.E.A.R. and boiled off all the SWAT nonsense?". Well, Nightmare house 2 is what you get. And lordy, what a competantly put together mod it is!
Scared the crap out of me at certain parts!! Great game overall, the only thing I found to be lacking was the voices. They werent quite there in expressing emotion. Other than that great game play, puzzles, etc. Length was decent, recommended to all my friends who play half life games.
