Deus Ex : New Vision is an overhaul of the environment textures in Deus Ex.
The first full release of the New Vision mod for Deus Ex!
Posted by DaveW on Aug 7th, 2011
It's been 4 years in the making, but Deus Ex : New Vision is finally seeing the light of day in it's full form. With around 75% of the world textures remastered at high definition, the project is finally complete - and is available to download right now!
i did what you said, find the file somehow did the changes. but when i click the game icon. it doesnt show up the console. it just try to starts the game and fails giving MSCVR100.dll error some of people says its because of 64 bit but i dont know any idea on this :)
thanks a lot btw..
Running it through steam (on xp), and therefore there is nothing in "My Docs" all of it is in steam/steamapps files...
Doesn't work with Kentie's Launcher exe installed (MSCVR error) and when I install everything but the launcher and run it through steam, the textures are not any different.
Am I doing something obvious wrong? Is there any pitfall to watch out for in steam installs?
I think in XP it's in User/AppData or something like that. To fix the error with the custom launcher download the extra .NET dependencies Microsoft.com
Dave, first off thanks for the quick reply!
Im sorry to be a pain in the butt, but I can't seem to find anything in Docs and settings or user data... even a full comp search came up with nothing... the only config file is the one in steamapps/common/deus ex/ system and so thats the one I edited... would/should that theoretically work?
and finally what am I looking for as far as .net dependencies
Sorry a million times for the noob questions.
Sorry, not .NET dependencies. My mistake. Check the link I posted (or the mod's description), that should be all you need to get Kentie's launcher working.
As a last resort, make a copy of your Textures directory and call it TexturesB or something, then copy the contents of NVTextures into the main Textures folder, overwriting the old packages.
If you still don't see the new textures, something's wrong with the renderer.
OMG i love the DX 10 Version , you roch man you fuckingggg roch.
BEST MOD .MOD OF THE YEAR I VOTE YOU I SWEAR TO GOD .
I'm big fan of this game and already downloaded packages. Installation is not hard, but when I try to use new renderer screen turns to slide-show.
My computer is fast enough I think, as I can run all new games with ok frame-rates. When game first loads it runs ok, but when I open menu, it all stops. I used like 3 minutes to select one option in menu as mouse cursor updates every 10s or so...
Running game from Steam here. I did not use Kentie launcher. Did I forgot to do something? Is it possible to use only new texture files?
Try a different renderer perhaps? I'd guess that you're using Direct3D 10 - try OpenGL instead, it's a simpler renderer so maybe it will run better.
But you do need a newer renderer to use the textures. They use a 'new' method of texture compression that wasn't supported in the original render DLL's (technically, except one - but no one can use it.)
I just installed New Vision with the DX10 Renderer and while everything looks much better, my games seems to be moving too fast and much of the dialogue is being cut off due to the speed of the animations. Any solution for this? I'm using the Steam GOTY version BTW.
After install of everything and trying to launch I get a critical error. "ReadFile beyond EOF 1523719+3/1523713" Any ideas?
Anybody able to get this going on the Direct2Drive version at all? I understand that the GOTY version from D2D is not mod friendly, as far as I know. Just wondering, I would really like to try this out, but not sure if I'd be willing to try another DD version of Deus Ex if this only works with disc based versions. Any help or suggestions, even comments, are appreciated!
p.s. I too am getting the ReadFile beyond EOF error
I'm using a D2D version and I had the critical error message in the post above yours, not sure if it has to do with D2D version or not though.
Oh Dang!
And I just finished Deus Ex 1 about 3 weeks ago..
Looks I gotta play it again ( :D ).
I've followed the video closely, using Kentie's renderer, but when I play the game I'm pretty sure I'm not getting updated textures. I've edited the file in the system folder, and I'm launching it with the correct .exe. I have not seen any bugs, or errors, it's just not showing up. I am running the Steam GOTY version by the way. Help would be appreciated!
Amorbis969@ About the changing on the paths.. etc, did you do it that in the DeusEx.ini that lies in the game directory? That's the default one, you need to do the change in the one that lies in C:\Users\AppData..somewhere but I don't know where that file is if you use the Steam version so I guess you will have to do a search.
I'm not finding one in AppData, the Steam one is in a steamapps folder under common.
Did a raw search of my drive, and found another .ini without the edits. Added NVTextures, and bam! everything is shiny! Thanks!
I just installed NewVision on my Dell Latitude D530 running XP with 2 gigs of RAM. My graphics card is nothing special, and I'm using Directx9.
I followed all the instructions to a T, did the hotfix, etc.
I got the game to load, but a few minutes in, in Battery Park it crashes.
It crashed several times, then I got a BSOD error.
Maybe, part of the reason is that my usb fan is not working well.
I felt the machine and it felt VERY warm; so I unplugged it and let it cool down all night.
I'm not sure if the textures are overloading my system, or if I just need to cool it better.
Wanted to play this game so bad but just couldn't bare the graphics, this makes it look worth trying again. :)
I've never really been affected by 'bad' graphics, but I know what you mean.
Windows 7 64-bit with Quad Core Intel i7 920, 6 GB RAM, and dual (crossfired) ATI Radeon 5770's (first ever card to support DirectX 11).
So:
All mods installed per the video, use the configure option on launcher and set to 1920x1080/16:9/32-bit. Once the spinning Deus Ex logo comes up, I've got the slowest system on Planet Earth. Have to guess on the mouse because twitching once cause it to jerk across the screen a second or two later. Downgrading resolution to 1200's didn't help.
I'm about to load up the OpenGL renderer, but why would a badass, cutting-edge(ish) system with DX 11 support have so much trouble with the DX10 mode?
Update:
OpenGL solves the performance issue, but I'm pretty confident that I'm not playing at anything vaguely like the 1920x1080 I've selected (although 16:9 is working fine) and I'm also pretty sure I don't have any new textures happening. I even manually copied from NVTextures to Textures. Have confirmed that all edits are taking place in c:\users\<me>\Documents\Deus Ex\system\deusex.ini
I'm starting first mission and docs and statue of liberty still look as unimpressive as always. Am I missing something?
Well if you're running OpenGL you have to follow the OpenGL instructions as per the video and the readme's in the release. But try re-installing DirectX 10, the link is in the mod summary.
How can I configure New Vision with HDTP? I tried editing .INIs, but only HDTP textures are shown.
As long as you do the right .INI adjustments it will work. If you want to use Kentie's launcher with HDTP though, I think you need to replace the HDTP.EXE in your system directory with a renamed version of Kentie's launcher (back it up first though).
does anyone know how to install this into the steam version?
nice mod!
thanks
(Steam version, Nvidia 9600GT, Win.7 64bit)
Wow, four years in the making, from what I've seen it looks like it has been worth it.
Will this work alongside other mods? In other words, if I installed this and shifter, would it play properly?
