Need for speed: High Stakes 2008 mod was conceived by the group of volunteers because of outdating the original NFS:HS engine. The reason of choosing "High Stakes" game engine is simple: This game is still the most loving of millions of people, also, it is an easy possibility to completely modify this game a.k.a. possibility to change user's vehicle list, music, menu style, traffic cars and even to improve the gamemodes. It is also chance of full replacement all of the game tracks. Of course, all vehicles models and track textures will be improved so the game will be looked in the more modern style. There's only few people developing this mod, so the work is going so unstable, that we even can't call you the release date. A little bit about our plans: At first we want to change completely all of the race tracks, race cars, traffic and police vehicles. Also, we want to create new career mode, change game menu, music and create better effects for the race tracks.

Do you have the files? Gohead and release them, I just hate when a mod is canceled before the files are even released, So many NFS HighStakes mods canceled for silly reasons like people not having the time or loosing intrest, Well they could have atleast posted the files before giving up so people could try them out.

I have to agree with PaulSpain its terrible that someone would showcase a mod just only to get to the point of not even posting beta versions for download. Other people could pick up the work and finish what was started. If it was good enough to post snapshots of the product its good enough to be downloaded. I wish someone could upload other peoples custom tracks from the 2000 era that are now really hard to get a hold of infact some of the best work was made way back in the day and those creators had them posted on add-on sites that are no longer online anymore. Its a shame actually now its becoming a rarity novelty item to just go around and do deep search for rare custom tracks. This one looks actually great and if indeed if it was broken Im sure someone with the time could fix it.

I agree. I don't know if it's out of fear or laziness or both, The fear thing though is really over kill, I find rare vehicles from way back and post them on the mod site I work for giving credit to the maker via a READ.Me file and our boss don't care or have fears of such, We are modders and just like to mod the game..We ain't in it for profit (most of us have regular jobs) this is just a hobby and fun one at that so we post all we can find for other modders to enjoy. It just seemed pointless that HighStakes 2008 ended with only a race track being released..No other files posted. They should posty the other files and with the recent advent of Veg Patch witch kills poly limits, Vehicles of 13000+ polys are now possible so many possibilities now including some conversions from GTA Vice City and SanAndreas. I'm currently working on making a Moscow track from the game GAI Street Challenge (Racers VS Police) looking at the models they seem to follow NFS style of texturing.
