Star Trek: Enterprise - M.A.C.O. is the re-launch of the cancelled Star Trek: Enterprise – Temporal Cold War (E:TCW) single-player Half-Life 2 modification, now based on CryTek’s CryEngine 3 technology. By learning from the mistakes we made during the development of E:TCW and utilizing the majority of the modeling and texturing assets created for its predecessor, we are confident that production will move forward at a far greater speed than the last attempt. Storywise, STE:M aspires to showcase the character-based storytelling format of E:TCW in small, one-hour episodes; gameplay-wise however, it embraces the formula used in the Elite Force series of video games offering both linear combat levels and free roam sections to let players explore the NX-01 Enterprise within reasonable bounds.

After 3 years of hard work, ups and down, the modification for HL2 has come to an end without release. But it is not all bad news, read on for more details...

Yes, it is over. After my resignation as Mod Leader, the interest for the mod dropped to an all time low. I felt that after the hard work and effort that had been contributed to the mod, that all of the assets produced and a working version of what we had should at least be released.

We have also added ALL of the model assets, textures and source coding files for those to use as they would like. Please give credit to those who produced them. Other than that, it would be great to see them used in a new mod, or in a Machinima project. I know there are a couple of German indie game and film developers are keen to get their hands on all of the assets and we bid them well with their projects.

I do not see this news as a failure, but as an amazing learning experience that lasted 3 years. In that time, I have learnt an amazing amount about how much work goes into producing a mod/game and have made many friends along the way. The talents of the Design Crew for the mod cannot go unsaid, as you will see in the working proof of concept release. I would to have enjoyed seeing a completed mod, but due to medical issues I personally was unable to continue with the mod, thus my resignation as Captain. I would like to personally thank all of those who contributed to the mod in the Design Crew and those who supported the mod over the past 3 years. Thanks again for the memories.

The main website for the mod will slowly transformed into a Star Trek Enterprise portal for news on movies, games etc so all of the hard work and effort will not be wasted. Unfortunately, I had a hard drive failure and lost all of the .smd files and .qc files for the mod (I would have loved to have give those away as well), which did contribute to the fast track of closing the mod down, since it meant starting from scratch in re-creating the major character versions and new asset compiles.

All downloads are ready to go here on ModDB. Checkout our downloads section for the mod here for all of the files. CLICK HERE

Sad to see another high quality trek mod not make it to the finish line, thanks for being so selfless as to put your work to the public anyway so that your effort is not wasted!

Enterprise lasted what, four seasons, this mod lasted three years. I find it ironic, yet sad that my second favorite incarnation of Star Trek was cancelled twice in my opinion. I will use these assets personally in a few things I plan on using in Half-Life/Garrys mod, and I'd love to see some other team use these assets and breathe life back into the mod or another one.

Peace and Long life!

You guys made a good structure demo, although the npc models needed work (their eyes were sorta >.>), I can imagine people enhancing your material and using them for possible machinima's down the road. You guys could of struck a deal to with this mod, you guys demonstrated dedication and commitment for 3 years, I wish you guys would seriously reconsider reviving this mod, perhaps you guys can get support via machinima or any other mods, perhaps some advertising or campaigning. I think we all cannot stress how well done this mod was. Guys if you need any support I'm sure anyone here will offer it.

Why no T'Pol, are you afraid of what Garry's Mod users might do with it?

T'Pol is there. Check in the open models folder, like Alyx. Sadly, her facial morphs were not completed, so no expressions, but she has all of Alyx anims. Enjoy... lol

Well, I am am not blaming them for the mod not coming out. It was my responsibility and leadership that failed due my lack of inspiration, oh, and the PAIN!!!... lol... Like any amazing machine, once the head is removed, the body dies.. lol.. only kidding... After 3 years of hard work, the lack of real world jobs and having to balance family and other issues, the bulk of the Design Crew who were still working found it difficult to find enough time to contribute. Just real life... In truth, we could have done the same thing 6 months ago and would have released almost the same amount of work. Would love someone to take all of our hard work and put it to good use on an off shoot mod or something...

A few of us still wanted to continue but we found that we couldn't move on without the appropriate positions filled. We had a script writer, concept artist, CGI modeler and voice actor... without a coder or beta crew it was next to impossible to continue without the proper support.

BTW... if anyone needs a voice actor, well lets just say I need a new home lol :(

That's a shame you lost that work, looks like there was a lot accomplished. No chance of sending that drive in to be recovered somewhere?

Yes, but it can cost as much as $1500 as they look for the same model of HD then replaced the main board, then there may be something wrong with the platters...

Why were a bunch of files such as the one below deleted? I was waiting a little bit before I could get them on a faster internet connection and now the ones I want are gone :(

There were a couple of corrupt files, so they were deleted, but when I re-added the new files, someone at ModDB moved them to add-ons rather than downloads.

I had been watching this mod a while back, rather upset that you've ended work on it... Still, you've released most of the project resources and a PoC demo, which is more than enough to make me smile.

Good-luck in your future endeavours,

It is really very sad learning that this mod has been closed down.I dont check often here in mod database so it was bad news hearing this.Especially after star trek online finally is reveled how bad it actually is...
Is there any chance you send the hd for repair eventually ?
Fully finishing the mod may be impossible but maybe work could continue but someone else if you recover all the data...
