It would be a good idea to find out.
Morrowind definitely works in Wine!

If Morrowind works in Wine, mods won't cause any issues.

I'll have to try in in Linux with Wine.
I know Morrowind vanilla works in Wine because there are a lot of positive feedback at winehq.com
But I don't know about mods and total conversions.

Ok, so I heard about his mod from Reddit, and I decided to get back into Morrowind. I purchased the bundle on steam a while back, but the file had been sitting, unloved, on my PC for quite some time. As I had never tried to mod Morrowind (or any game, for that matter) before, I decided that a total overhaul patch would be a good place to start. I got the code patch that I need to run Rebirth,, and installed that without any problems, but I'm having a few issues with installing 2.2. I guess you haven't looked at this thread since 2012, but I can try, can't I?

First, I've had people telling me that I need to check the 2.1 box in the data files screen from the launcher. My data files screen is missing the 2.1 box. Do I need to locate and download the 2.1 patch to even run 2.2, or is this version comprehensive?

Second, I get a message on start-up that the plugins can't find the correct versions of the master files. Is this an issue? What's going on here?

Third, I don't know what to expect as far as gameplay goes. I've reviewed the patch notes for 2.2, but what about the changes in every previous version? Do I still have to manage my skills like I did in the first one, to not massively overlevel my capabilities?

Anything you could tell me would help... I just hope you see this.

Hi there and welcome! :)

1. You need to put everything in the installpackage to Morrowind/Data Files folder, you just need to download 2.2 as it contain all the files necessary! The esp should be visable if you did install it correctly.
2. It's a common warning, you don't have to worry about it.
3. Ehm the changes are quite massive to be honest. You can find a changelog in every release thread here on my moddb page. I do plan to add a general changelog later on but since it's about 10 A4 pages long I doubt many people would be intereted, that's why I put up a summary in the front-page.

Wow, thanks for answering! I really didn't think you'd get back so fast. 1&2 got solved no problem, but I'm still figuring out what all has been changed. Most of the balance stuff is obvious (Alchemy not broken), but I'm still getting surprised by unexpected changes here and there.

Oh well, I added a changelog. You can view the changes here: Moddb.com
