This has been a long time coming. Far too long. And we apologize for that. By now, most of you have heard tell of the new features...but I"m going to give you a rundown anyways.

General

  • Episode II is not a requirement!
  • New monster: Antlion Worker
  • Votable gamemodes
  • Particle effects are back! The game looks better than ever!
  • Improved the module usage system...you can now tell if a module is recharging
  • Revamped whole AI system! We now have on-the-fly control over how easy or hard our monsters are....and we are giving that control to you, the players, as well!
  • Added tons of CVars to give server admins control over their abilities!

Modules

  • Kamikazi Crow. Active. Spawn up to 3 crows that will attack enemies on sight by exploding in their face.
  • Jetpack. Active. Use the Jetpack to reach high places.
  • Freeze Bomb. Active. Throw a grenade which freezes enemies for 0.5...5 seconds.
  • MIRV Grenade. Active. Throw a grenade which explodes into 4 MIRVlets.
  • Poison Resist. Passive. You are 33% more resistant to poison (only costs 3 points!).

On top of all of this, we've also improved our server setup, and finally have locked down a process on how to host a Modular Combat server! We've also added support for voting for game modes via SourceMod/Metamod!

Thanks again for all your support. We are in the process of updating the wiki and giving Modular Combat more complete documentation. We appreciate your patience, especially after disappearing for so long. But rest assured. WE ARE BACK.

I've been playing it till the server went down, this version is amazing, jetpack is awesome and the graphics and gui have some new cool features. dont notice any difference in ai though

2 questions,

first I do not own halflife2 but this project interests me... can I use all these abilities in hl2 singleplayer?

Second, how did you do that cool image at the bottom of the news post?

The image is just a something we did up in Photoshop.

ffs. the only server availible is a american server which makes every european player get 150 ping or more. it also gives a delay which causes u to die alot more then you kill. and of course, ITS ONLY PVP. WHY???. it completly ruined the PVE kind of mod, it ruined every little piece of teamplay that existed in the mod. theres no other servers to play on except the american and a european, the european is locked and the american... well i have already written why the american sux.

Listen, jackass, theres a euro server, and although its passworded half the time, the other half it works. Second, it is PVE for christ sake. think before you comment.

Sorry, that was rude of me, those were valid things and I insulted you...
Anyway, like I said, there is a euro server most of the day and alot of the time it doesn't have a password. It's not ideal, but its viable.
Also, PVM is usually far more common on the headhumpers arena. i personally dont enjoy PVP either

Wow, this mod is really fun. Of course, since it's so early in its production, there are a few things that I question.

Just as mr_peters has stated, I don't like the PVP very much. What I mean is, as soon as I joined a server, there were a bunch of higher-level characters who could kill me right away before I got the chance to gain some experience. I hope this is something you change in the long-run. Maybe add some sort of option in which you could accept or deny challenges from other players?

But as it is, I have enjoyed it. Keep up the good work, and don't give up!

Me and some other players were talking about an attack cap- ie if you have it enabled, players more than say... 3 levels above you can't attack. Or something like protection until you are level 5, stuff like that. no one said anything to dryden yet though.
but it doesnt really matter, as the main server is usually on PVE. you can just type votegamemode to make it go PVE, usually everyone votes for that

Wow nearly half of all the views this page hgas had came from today.

Love the gamemodes. PVP or free for all kind of kills it for some players, but it all depends on the votes, people. If you dont want PVP vote PVM. I hope player hunts come into play soon. That would be intense if the next person you kill has to be someone on "your hitlist" or else you lose a chance to gain extra XP. That would be awsome.

Good job so far on the mod. It has been a pleasure playing!

It can be fun if you have some sort of objective gamemode, with players cooperating or competing to do it. You can reward teams or players who finishes these with extra experience, though all participants would gain small but enough experience compared to the 0 > 3 experience after the round ends.

EDIT: oh and antlion workers and normal antlions are almost indistinguishable when in a close combat, can normal antlions get a darker shade of colour, or more redish shells?

Two things to say:

1) I have a server up sometimes, usually around 4-6 Custom maps and downloads are on

2) You can play this mod singleplayer coop. Just get GCF scape, drag all the maps from HL2 into MC then start a server with d1_trainstation_01
