Sides In Modern Front you can join one of the two sides inside of the game, Liberation Army or GAF

Liberation Army

Liberation Army was formed by a group of unknown people who didn't agree with how, a foreign president, Andrew Eersteg ruled their homeland, island Ahurz'al. They somehow managed to acquire enormous set of weapons which were smuggled across the east sea borders, which allowed them to assasinate the president in 2011 and become new rulers by force, with actual support of most island population. Unlike most organisations of it's kind, it is said that Liberation Army doesn't have any hierarchy and never made any kind of recruiting inside of it's arms.

Until 2012 there was no real interest in the events that happened on Ahurz'al or the Liberation Army itsel from the outside world. However, this state has drastically changed with the moment when different countries had to fight back rebelion started by people carrying the flag of Liberation Forces. Altought no connection was evidenced between the Liberation Army of the Ahurz'al and the rebelions on the outside of the island, The Union declared that if Liberation Army won't allow one of The Union governors to become new president of Ahurz'al they will attack them within a week 'in order to establish freedom and peace in Ahurz'al and stop the world from suffering the terror of Liberation Army'.

The letter was taken by Liberation Army as offensive try to limit their freedom with the reasons of being only lies. As such The Union declared war against Liberation Army across the world and sent groups of specially qualified soldiers, named Spec Ops, to wipe out Liberation Army and secure the area inhabited by them.

GAF

GAF (Global Attack Force) are military groups, formed in 2012 by The Union. They were sent to fight with Liberation Army across the world. They are politically neutral and taught to not question their orders under a threat of being executed. The members of GAF are soldiers who were selected by The Union during series of demanding tests. Very little is known about them since any kind of knowledge gathered by mass-media or curious people was censored due to the top-secret status of these arms.

There are many opinions spreading on about GAF. Various people reported that "they never speak with civilians" and "don't hesitate to use non-lethal force" against them. Other said that it's group of "ultimate soldiers, very efficient in fight" and that they "execute tactics like nobody else could".
