Mistake 1.0
Oct 28, 2007 Full Version 5 commentsMistake 1.0 Running with steam and won too. Enjoy! XD
This mod will let us into a horroristic world in the Andrew Parker asylum and we will live through (or not) in the view of a mental patient.
The mod's primal object is not the insane bloodbath. The real object is to escape from the huge building which holds a lot of secrets.
The mod have been completed after 3 months. It gives you 15-20 freaking minutes in the horroristic Andrew Parker asylum. The game runs with WON and Steam based Half-Life too.
The mod includes:
- new textures
- new sounds
- new HUD
- new maps
- new menu
- changed and new models

We have the complete story. The new episode's events will be the large part of the first part of the Mistake. Reminisences and cross-references make more strange the gameplay what will lead the players to the end. The gameplay mostly entertains with the previous episode's events, we'll know the past of the main character, and it's important moments and it's places like the Jenell Endsley hospital -workplace of Steve Rick-, Steve's house. and the well known Andrew Parker Asylum.
The creation of maps are going on and better ideas get real. A lot of things, models and other graphic stuffs are made and will be made.
You can check 5 screenshots of completed maps which are similar to the first episode in the atmosphere and structure. We have a new modeller in the team. The models that he made is completely fits in the game's atmosphere. Those are 4-5 zombie model at now, but the news are going to be created. The new models have new animations, attacks too.
We steal memos into the maps which contains small piece of informations to the player.
The game-make progress at near 15%.
And we're looking for programmer. Required things: flashlight used in source, new hud, 1-2 new weapon, new actions to animations for the enemies. the consultations are usually on msn. Contact: PM or send a mail to Ashkandi@citromail.hu e-mail adress.

When I start a game, I choose my difficulty as normal, and then just sit there as the loading screen comes up (or I presume it's a loading screen, anyway) and just...sits, for a long while. I can hit Esc at any time to get into the menu, but it won't load the map.
Advice?
now thats a shit scary movie. maybe could be a good mod too?
This mod actually reminds me of the movie "house on haunted hill"
It's really hard to make an unique game / mod, because all kind of stories are on the line. The man is trying to do his best to create something epic, but every horror has a taste of Silent Hill and the all the zombies have a taste of Resident Evil. But if the players enjoy the mod like those famous stuffs, than OK  8)

I can't believe people are saying this is similar to Afraid of Monsters. Like AoM is the only Survival Horror game where you hunt for keys and buttons? Cripes, people.
Uh. Just because people say that doesn't mean that Mistake was a complete rip-off of AoM:DC, which is basically what you just implied.
I like it because its different from AoM. It was really scary even tough there were only like 2-3 monsters (maybe the mod could focus on slow stalking monsters)
I liked what you did, short and sweet but the ending was a bit.. 'anti-climatical' and the lack of plot prevented me from being immersed more. I look forward to seeing more from you in the future :)
How will you continue the episode, I mean the end made me think he died?
Pretty good mod overall though, a bit on the short side as mentioned but nice atmosphere and quite impressive level design. Great sound too.
I think you succeeded at making the player feel worried and paranoid by all the background sounds, continue on that. :)
Thanks the opinions. As I see, the biggest problem was the small amount of the maps, it makes me happy. I'll try to make more maps for the next episode (as my time let me do it). Yesterday I started to draw and purpose the places of the story, models, etc.
Great mod guys! Way too short, but not bad considering it only took you three months. Very well polished, great textures and music, very scary. :) Could've used more enemies to keep it interesting. You guys NEED to make a continuation of this. If this is what you did in three months, I'd love to see what you can do in six months or a year. I was wondering, what language are the notes/wall messages you find in the game in? And the note on the title screen. Can we get an english translation of that?
