Mission Improbable is a singleplayer mod for Half-Life 2: Episode 2. In it, Gordon Freeman is tasked with re-activating a Resistance listening post. From there, things quickly escalate.

Before reading on, please click here so that you can start your download! It's been a long journey to finish this project. With the first map being made and released back in 2009 and the second map being released in 2010, it has taken another 2 years for the project to be completely wrapped up.

Initially I intended to just create the final map and do some script and minor graphical upgrades to the previous levels, but while having a beer with Rick one day he suggested that he could help me out with some art to make the levels even more awesome.

"It'll only take like 2 months" he said "we'll make some new rocks and stuff, it'll be easy!" That was back in December. From then until now we've done almost complete rebuilds of the old levels, replaced almost all Half-Life 2 content with original art, and created 2 new levels as well! We have around 300 new textures being used in the mod, along with 300 new models.

It's a great feeling to finally be able to release Mission Improbable. It has been a lot of late nights and long hours to get it done, and we sincerely hope you'll enjoy playing it. In case your download hasn't finished quite yet, then you can take a look at the launch trailer below.

The download is STILL not done? Then check out this videoreview that Valvetime.net did! They reviewed a pre-release version of the mod, and awarded it an A-!

By now I hope the download is done. Again, we hope you like it, now we will go get some well-deserved rest!

Yeah, this issue occurs with a lot of mods since the Source Games files format update. Fortunately, this gentleman has found a solution: Steamcommunity.com

You just have to copy and paste the content of this page: Pastebin.com into a file named "gameinfo.txt". (This file is located in the main folder of the mod)

The fix doesn't work for me :( I just get the same error

Edit: Never mind, for some reason it worked the second time I tried it.

Thanks for the solution! Best Half Life 2 mod, already played it before but want to play it again.

Many thanx, Magnar and Rick and all the rest of the team!
I wrote my 10/10 review of the mod. Luckily, I had no bugs, and it was an INCREDIBLE experience!

P.S. The seashore was awesome, I played from the start with my finger on screenshot button ;) Was it some real location that inspired you?

That was without doubt one, if not, the best HL mod I have ever played! Looks amazing, awesome level design, perfect balance of intense crazy fighting, puzzlement and quiet suspenseful moments.

While the puzzle moments never got in the way of the flow, they did unlike so many mods, add lots to the game interest overall. Fights were never too biased one way or the other. Perfect balance of placement of weapons and health etc. with some very memorable funny stuff thrown in for good measure.

Altogether, Mission Improbable is a really polished piece of a gaming classic in the making. I really hope there is more in the works(?) as I am sure many people like myself will be ready to receive it with a Cheshire cat grin..........

...................... Many many thanks for your hard work! Awesome! 10/10!

Hey there hERd, sorry for the super late response!
I can't say I've seen this before, I'll get Magnar to drop by and see if he has any suggestions. Do you have any more info, crashdumps, log files etc?
You could also try loading up the level directly from the mission select menu - does the game still crash?

It's like an Expansion Pack for HL2. And it's not one of those cheap Mods, this campaign is so good it could've been in the original game.
