So Misery 2.2 took us all by surprise, I can't deny the fact that I wasn't around when the rest of MDT members were onto it, I was expecting the release to be around the end of the month but life was too generous and gave us this new and sudden birth, so let's cherish and enjoy it for a very long time.
As you all know, TAZ is not like any other mod, you won't find a mod with such a gigantic weapons arsenal, the current progress contains exactly 351 weapons, all are new and nothing replaces those of Misery 2.2, and when you take the already existing arsenal in Misery 2.2 into consideration you will end up with 686 weapons, all vary between pistols, revolvers, shotguns, ARs, SMGs, and so on. Check out this updated worksheet if you have a need to know. Even with this number we are merely scratching the surface of what the mod truly is capable of, of course, we will always match quantity with quality, we can't say we will reach what Shoker 3 or Gunslinger mods has in terms of attachments, laser pointers, and other engine features, but when we reach CoC engine we will benefit from it the best way we can, that's a promise :)
The current progress is like this: We have three guys working descriptions. Kuba working on configs, scopes, shooting effects, pricing balance, and much more. Alex, the sound editor, is not available to work on sounds, life is taking most of his time. This had pulled us back, most sounds he posted on his youtube channel are unavailable to us for the time being, meaning most of them are not in the current Alpha build, hopefully we may get them sooner or later. On the other hand, we got another Alex who is now the apprentice of the main Alex "Alex had another Alex as a young padawan, funny isn't it?:D" , now he's working fast making new sounds and improving the old ones. Last but not least, Kyky, the already famous stalker with his marvelous animating skills, up until now he hasn't stopped bringing even better animations for new guns and improving some previously implemented ones. When all this is done, there are dismantle and repair scripts, these are hell to edit, and they may consume time too, so we urge you to be patient with us, once the mod is done, you will get it.
With all that being said, I'm afraid that a period of one month is not enough for a proper release of TAZ 2.0, we will need more time, I could say two months, three, four, or even five, it all depends on how fast we work and how available all team members are, and of course, life is a whole different story, it may hit us the moment we're about to release and pull us even farther away. So in the meantime, we need you to spend this time playing Misery 2.2 and getting to know its new features and explore the new and hidden stuff.
Meanwhile, here are some of the stuff I haven't yet posted in ModDb
The AEK919-Kashtan got some very lovely set of animations, and tanks to kyky's endless improvisation I got an even better idea for this SMG, it will rely on class, here's a hint: Recon will be the one to truly cheeki breeki this gun. I will post more about this some other time.
MP5K is the easiest to handle MP5 variant, super easy that you won't even feel much of a recoil, and the weight? there is almost none! a true master piece SMG that you can use as a side arm if you're an MP5 fan.
Want to be a true cheeki breeki? have a Makarov with 80rnd magazine.
Customized MP5A3 got a properly customized model now, and with the new configs it has become a seriously dangerous SMG, don't feel underpowered when you buy one, put your full trust in it, load the mag, and let the zone hear you.
And here we have a new variant for the MP5, the MP5SD5, long story short, silent death.
In the end, stay sharp for more images and videos 'cause there will always be more, why more guns? because it's never enough dakka! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Remember, you're not the only one with enough rubbles to buy these guns, stalkers, bandits, mercs, freedomers, and all other factions are too capable of pulling some serious fire power, heck! some of them has weapons you can only dream of!
5 five months... Damn! That's a long wait, but it's all really understandable, if you take into consideration that you're all doing this for free and as a hobby. Thanks for all your work so far, and I'm waiting to see your efforts sooner than later!
It's the worst case scenario, we hope to release much sooner, we too would love to finally play the mod and enjoy all the hard work and the glory of both mods :D
I thought TAZ was being released as a standalone mod independent of MISERY?
That's planned, but later.
I can only wonder how it feels to play a mod you've created your own lol
Hey, five months is a really long wait, but, with great patience comes great reward. I'm truly sorry for asking, but i once requested the Winchester 1897 to be in the mod, any chance of still seeing one?
Again, five months is not a certain, it's a worst case possibility, besides, you guys have waited much longer for Misery to come out, I'm sure you will spend a long time playing it while TAZ is still being work in progress.
For now we're avoiding adding more guns and focusing on finishing those we have. The one you asked for is available, but it needs new animations, and we need the time getting the current tasks done. Don't worry though, many more guns will be added, including yours, and that's a must!
You kind sir, are awesome. Thanks for replying! :D
Well 5 months is a long time, but its more then fair considering the team size and the magnitude of the mod. Besides, it shows how dedicated you guys are. MP kept posting new weapons on a regular basis for more then 3 years now, and Ky-kys work takes alot of time.
Config work is alsow painfully tedious, so my heart goes to Nick for tackling that task. Descriptions require their fair share aswell, since it takes both knowledge and charisma to make a description both acurate and entertaining to read. And I Kinda figured that Alex wasnt making sounds since his videos stoped showing up. Real shame, I liked his work. Hopefully the New Alex will be able to make it.
All in all I hope the best for this mod. 2.2 came out great. The new features are pretty good, graphic quality as been improved, and most importantly its even more stable then the old version. No crashes so far, nor quest glitches, so Im happy with the results. But most of ous know, that the real cherry on top of this miserable cake is going to be TAZ. So take your time and make your mod great again TAZ team.
One question. You said that the vanilla weapons arent going to be replaced once TAZ comes out. Do you mean that the vanilla weapons will have the same models, textures and animations in TAZ? Cause although some weapons are fine the way they are like the M4, AKM, and such "despite the stock cliping in the screnn when aiming" It seems like some weapons are still vanilla looking, such as most pistols and the double barrel shotguns. Pretty sure I saw far better models in TAZ here.
Thanks for the kind words man, much appreciated :D
You must have misunderstood me, TAZ is all about replacing vanilla guns, and we've spent so much time replacing them. So yeah, they're already done for it and need someone to test :D
I figured as much. Afterall I have the icon sheet on my desktop backround, and the icons of the vanilla weapons dont match the ones in Misery 2.2.
As for testing, Im sure at the very least 98% of the community here wouldnt mind doing it. After all, there are people out there that buy early acess in order to play alpha and beta versions of games. Imagine how many people would like to do that with TAZ for free. :D
We will surely need alpha testers, trust worthy people we can rely on, people who won't back stab us and leak a half a** finished mod :D Guys like you are very much welcome to join in if you have the time to do so :)
I do have an 8 to 17 job, but I spend most of my free time navigating the Zone. If you ever need help with alpha testing, I would be more then honored to be apart of it. Just tell me what you need to me to do, and I will put in the time for it. :)
Thanks for the vote of trust mate.
Than prepare your schedule for some serious testing dude :D I already have the alpha ready and uploaded, all it needs is the current patch I'm working on, without it the game will crash due to some lousy mistakes I've made xD I'll contact you via PM for further instructions.
Looking forward to it. :)
I will look forward to TAZ 2.0, till then I hope you guys don't over stress yourself ^^
To the zone I go! ;)
Don't sweat it and take your time. You guys have proven yourselves a capable group, your work is openly appreciated and people know you'll deliver. Keep it up, this will be another great and anticipated mod.
gotta love that w40k reference. What about choppas? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Keep up the very, very good work!
months? Hell , can't wait to try out new TAZ.Great work
Thank y'all for your understanding and support :D
Frankly, I would be happier if some weapons from Misery 2.2 were replaced completely by weapons from this mod. For example Galil that has bolt handle on the left side in Misery. It won't fit well with beautiful guns you've got here.
I did my best with some guns like the AKS74 and gave it proper mirroring "charging handle on the right side".
In TAZ we did our best to make guns look as realistic as possible, and we will always do :)
80 round makarov? What the frick frack snick snack?
That's the gun of cheeki breeki slavs.
>because it's never enough dakka! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
>nuffin' choppy either
>no red gubbinz to go fasta
9.2/10 mod ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Long time no see dude! :)
Surprised to see how bad our models looks by X-Ray render that we made for EFT/CW. :(
Haha, they're not really that bad, it's just the way each engine handles shaders, and xray needs bump maps wich are reverted normals, that too sorta lowers the quality. Other than that the models are quite great!
Any chance the new version will be save compatible? I can't remember if older TAZ was, and I know I won't have the self-control to wait...
Thanks for all your hard work!
First, the old TAZ wasn't save compatible
Second, the next TAZ won't be save compatible
Third, patient you must, young padawan.
Will there be a spawn dialog menu included with the release of the mod, because I hope you guys do not miss out on that fun stuff too.
There will be one, in fact, there is already one we use, it's made by CDIA, a humble MDT fella :)
"but when we reach CoC engine we will benefit from it the best way we can, that's a promise :)"
They'll be worth waiting a bit more, after the Misery 2.2 ver
Love the work you've been doing. It's clearly a labor of love. One concern, though. It's about the MP5K. Was the description of its stats sarcastic? Its diminutive size and lack of stock combined with its high ROF should make it the *LEAST* controllable MP5 so far. It would make sense that its size and weight would make it nice and maneuverable but it would throw off the game and any reason to use other members of the MP5 family.
Slight tangent - is any work going to be done to make 9x19 slightly more viable, or is it just plinking?
Thank you for your time, and especially if you took some out to read this and reply.

First and for the most, we always take time to read and reply to messages and comments :)
If you're referring to the MP5k in the old TAZ than I agree, that version of the mod was not made with a proper coherence, it was more or less of an experiment. TAZ 2.0 make things as realistic as possible, guns with no stock will have a punch even if they are the exact same copy from a variant with a stock. I've been testing guns to see how well they are handled, MP5 is almost OP against normal targets without good outfits, you can drop a group of three NPCs with one mag, this means accuracy and handling is perfected for this gun, just as it is in real life. MP5k, on the other hand, has more recoil given that it has no stock, but still it is good in indoor situations. Apply this to all related guns and their variants.
Concerning ammunition, all ammunition got reworked, 9mm is not as weak as it was in vanilla, all ammo types are powerful to a certain extent, of course you can't take down an Exo guy with a Makarov, a few good placed .5OAE will do the trick better :)
Good to hear! I was referring to this quote from the above post:
"MP5K is the easiest to handle MP5 variant, super easy that you won't even feel much of a recoil, and the weight? there is almost none! a true master piece SMG that you can use as a side arm if you're an MP5 fan."
To be clear, that's a joke, right?
Also, very excited for the mod. Would dedicate my time if I had the chance. Is there anything I can do to help?
I'll let you find out when you play the mod :D I personally find the MP5k much easier to handle compared to the others. I could give you false statements here, I treat all MP5s with love, my nickname starts with mp5!
Can you add more WW2 weapons?
I mean they do exist in misery and i'm asking this favor;
As for ''NATO'' section;
M1 Garand, Lee Enfield, Bren, Thompson, Sten, BAR, M1919,
Oh as for german weapons- most of them exists, but i especially want those in the game;
FG42, MG34 and MG42, but especially FG42
Maybe you should take a look at the worksheet mentioned in the article, it should satisfy you for quite a long time :)
Dear mp5lng
let me start by saying amazing job you and your team on this massive modification for Stalker Call of Pripyat, my question to you guys is will you be setting up a Patreon account in order for people like me and the wonderful community on Moddb.com to help support your team financially so the mod can be created with ease.
Hey bud,
On behalf of the team I thank you for the support and the kind words, however we can not accept financial support, we do what we do out of love and joy, it is what keeps us pushing forward even when life pulls us back, but worry not, we won't give up on the mod, we will do our best to make it a masterpiece :) Even if we want such support we can not have it, as modders we are not allowed to monetize the stalker franchise, neither are we allowed to monetize the content we use. Most of the assets we show are from other sources and games, we're lucky no one is angry at us for doing so :D and I hope things remain good as it is.
Thanks again for the great support, it is much appreciated!
Dear mp5lng
I understand your not in it for the money because this is GSC property and we are not in-titled to use it for profit
But
I admire you and your teams work with the weapon models, i understand your saying some are not your designs and other games copy right stuff but, I am wondering could you recreate these gun models for Cryengine 5? Reason for this is I am working on a freelance project aiming to create a game much like Stalker Call of Pripyat but with very heavy realism and a different story line, In time i will be putting together a small team of 3 or 4 designers to work on this full blown project to make a Free roam adventure where the story is about you the user and you everyday decisions, It is much like what the nice people at "Noises of the Zone" are doing with Cryengine but this is going to be a unique game nothing to do with the stalker franchise meaning, It will be same location and everything but not GSC material. So that being said this is not going to be a rip off of stalker its just going to be a completely new game with a new name but influenced by map layout and characters from "Chernobyl, Stalkers, Military, Bandits and wild life like the bore and flesh.... All will be in the game and it will feel like Call of Pripyat but more of a reality hunting raiding finding treasure even base building like fallout 4.
Also at some point a CO-OP multiplayer survival type game mode..... hopefully if all goes well.
If you decide to make models of guns animated and with sound files for Cryengine I am happy to buy them from you (must be copy right free)
If you know any Computer programming, Object modeling, 3D Max, Photoshop, Sound engineering skills also must have 1 years experience in Cryengine please send me a private message here so we can keep contact on my linkedin account.
Once again great job with your mod for Stalker Call of Pripyat I am looking forward to seeing the completed edition.
I will answer you in a PM so to make sure you get notified :)
So now that 1 month passed, is the estimated time still arround 5 months (4 more months now that 1 month passed i guess) at worse? How much more time would u say? Waiting on this to replay Misery again
Great job btw :)
Well, it will always be 5 months until the mod is ready, than it'll be release time :D
Don't rely on ETA, it's never that accurate, you just be patient and when the mod is ready it'll be out.
"Well, it will always be 5 months until the mod is ready, than it'll be release time :D"
lmfao
where do i put this file taz 2.0 work sheet.xlsx? please help
I'll always be a fan of your work, mp5 ;)
Keep up the good work.
Currently playing through the vanilla MISERY to get used to things.
Thanks stalker :D
It's good playing the vanilla, once you feel you mastered it get ready to be the noob again when bandits roast you with their new guns :D
