Good day, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s.

Swallowed By Life

As time weathers all things, so too did it erode my ability to work on this project. No, hold your breath, this isn't a break-up speech. Following some rough personal turmoil, I relocated to a new area, and whereas I used to work-from-home, I now have a regular office job like everyone else.

To be brutally honest, that is where most of the delays have been coming from. I have vastly expanded responsibilities at my job now that I am there in person.

There is good news, however. My divorce tried to kill this mod, and that failed. My moving across the State I live in tried to kill this mod, and that failed. And finally, my aging rig (which blew a power supply and had to have some other components replaced) tried to kill this mod, and that, too, failed.

To celebrate not being "dead", I decided I would grab a new CPU (one which I believe will be much better at handling the extensive work needed in this mod) and that would jump-start a wholly new perspective on development.

Whereas in the past I must admit that a lot of things were half-organized and mainly driven by, "when I had time", I think I want to try a new approach to the development. One that is overall more organized, more streamlined, and easier to get into (as a developer).

Since returning to an office environment, yes - I may have less time than I ever had before. But the *good* news is, I also now have a much, much, much finer appreciation for what some good organization, an encouraging word or two from all of you, and a desire to see this project make it across that hallowed finish line that eluded so many STALKER mods before this one.

The Holding Of Breath, and the Calm Before The Storm

All-in-all, you are all wonderful for sticking it out. The one thing I am constantly reminded of is that we are *all* survivors. We are all STALKERs, and we are all part of a community that loves to keep the "Zone" alive. Every one of us who still enjoys these games does so because STALKER gave us what many games today still haven't; and that's a massive experience where our very survival depended on our quick wits, our ability to survive on-the-fly, and a game that nourishes our very will to live.

What does all of this mean? It means that, "it's time to get back to the business of making one of the best Clear Sky mods out there".

Look for updates coming in the next few weeks, and this time - barring a tornado dropping on my house, a flash flood sweeping my neighborhood away, or a real-life nuclear apocalypse - I'm pretty certain we'll be able to share some of the latest and greatest from our work we've been doing.

With this in mind, I am armed with new tools, and a renewed zeal for crossing that fairy-tale finish line - I believe we will see the Zone in ways we haven't seen it before by the time I am able to make M.I.N.E. yours.

Very sincerely, with heart-felt thanks for your time and patience,
-"Doc" Blizzard

To allay any suspicions, we aren't "dead". This mod has, thanks to a number of personal catastrophes, been stretched over a few years.

That in turn has caused "more than a few" of our original development team members to pursue other projects as we lost contact.

Anyone interested in contributing to the project is encouraged to private message me.

I have been play-testing this week and the previous week and things are looking well.

Of the things that remain, few may be truly "fixable" (i.e., large loading "spikes" when transitioning into densely populated areas, assumed to be caused by the introduction of a large amount of new content on top of the existing vanilla content).

Ultimately, I feel we are drawing closer to a release as we weed out and correct some of the last annoyances.

It continues to be my fondest wish that your wait was not in vain and that your expectations will be met wherever possible.

Until next time, happy stalking, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s.

Please tell me that there will be an option to remove the Dynamic View that you're using in the video from above.
For me, it just doesn't work, having blurry screen just like that, once every few seconds, plus the performance loss, just ... no.

The textures on that L85A2 (Or is it A1 in Clear Sky?) looks great!

I hope you guys are still alive and making progress with this.

The good news is, the L85 isn't a jam-o-matic anymore. It will still not be as reliable as some of the other weapons, but it doesn't feel totally useless now, either.

Good news, folks. I shot some video after some initial difficulty on Tuesday, 2014/05/20.

The video turned out pretty good, all things considered. It will be in the Garbage, but will showcase some "general" activity that we're all used to. Searching corpses, shooting down mutants (which can be very, very profitable if you sell the mutant parts to the right vendors), and harassing the bandits as much as they harass us.

It's a little bit of "classic" STALKER done in a way that says, "Guess Who's Modding Again".

Look for this new video to be posted sometime in the next week or two, depending on editing time. I need to set up my editor again, but I don't foresee any great difficulty.

Until then, happy stalking!

Thanks for writing, zin90.

Development had stalled for a bit again, following some ugly personal turmoil that I will spare the rest of you.

The good news is, that's done with, and I am back to my old, happy, modding self.

As for a release date, I don't think I'm ready to commit to a date just yet. I know a lot of modders do this, and still more say, "It's done when it's done". I too, understand why they would do this.

However - and for reasons outlined in the latest news article - I think I may try to frame a timeframe for this project so that I can, at the very least, be a little more transparent with all of you as to how this project is progressing.

I need to take a long, hard look at what we already have, and that will give me a better idea of where we "should" be. I think that once we have that "destination", then we can give you guys some updates timeframes, or at least ball-park estimates.

Just let us know whenever you're ready Doc. We're always up for an adventure in the Zone (since 1.000 for SHoC & counting on my part :D)

My condolences and heartfelt sympathy concerning the IRL issues. I've walked many a mile in your very shoes myself. It's never easy but time does assuage nearly all, I can assure you. As long as we still live, we can always scrape up the pieces & plod on. :)

I'm glad everything is coming back together for you. Just keep putting those feet one in front of the other S.T.A.L.K.E.R., & one day you might be surprised at just how far you've come. ;)
