MPHLS v14 for Half-Life:Source
Nov 12, 2008 Full Version 3 commentsThis package contains instructions and a zip file to install MPHLS as a mod on top of Half-Life:Source. It is, unfortunately, a manual installation process,...
MPHLS is a funny take on the original Half-Life game. Its goal is to replace every single line of dialogue with altered or completely different lines, with humour that ranges from puns to lowbrow. If that tickles your fancy, then take a look at some the videos we have posted to get a feel for what it offers.
Here is a listing of all the things that are replaced, or are in the plans for replacement:
scientist, barney & soldier banter (i.e., randomly spoken dialogue), scripted dialogue from all chapters, text listed in train sequence, HEV sound effects

Hello all. A quick note that our current official website will be shut down soon, so we are currently in the process of finding a new (free) provider. FYI, we have been on the Planet Half-Life / GameSpy network for years now, but they've notified us recently that their hosting services are coming to an end. Thankfully they gave us lots of advance notice, so I hope to have a new site up and running soon. You can continue to check here for any mod updates - when the replacement site is ready to go, it will be announced here.
You need to have Flash and Javascript running in your browser to see this player.

This is the zipped version of the sound mod. You will have to manually extract this into your Half-Life folder before playing. If you're lazy, or...
This is version 14 of the sound pak, containing replacements for all scripted dialogue (except things said by the HEV suit and the announcement system)....
A 3 minute clip that demonstrates the difference between a normal Half-Life scene and an MPHLS scene. The Chicken Dance song was added for kicks, but...
A sampling of what this mod provides. Do you remember the scene just before entering the Test Chamber, in which two scientists remark on the importance...

BTW, if Black Mesa Source actually does come out, can I port this soundpack to that mod? (You know, to experience some next-gen warm apple pie.)
That would be way cool. It probably won't fit 100%, I read that the BM team made some changes to the story/scenarios, but hey don't let that stop you. A lot of what we did doesn't really make sense anyway.
I know. But something tells me that, thanks to all that silly dialogue, I'll find stuff to fit.
Impossible, you would need to facepose EVERY sound.
So? There are voicepacks for TF2, and their makers didn't give a flying shit about faceposing.
Say, you made the Source version like I did! Well, now I won't have to make it again. (my PC crashed, every file lost)
I'm having a problem with this mod, it works until just after the part where he talks about the "facilities wild life" after that the PA system doesn't make anymore sounds, and when the tram gets to the part where it should go down and kind of turn, it just sits there, and nothing happens... 0_O;
Sorry it's not working for you. I think the easiest thing to do is just to use cheats to jump straight to the first playable level - that should do the trick. We have a recording of the entire tram sequence available in the Video section of the site - check that out to see what you missed.
Just for my reference, could you tell me what version of the mod you're playing? (HL:Source, HL1 on Steam, original "Goldsource") I don't have the time to troubleshoot now, but I'm trying to come up with a list of issues and fixes. thx
No, it's for Steam goldsource. And, no, I do not have the WON version.
try deleting the Hl1 files from the username folder (not the mods though).
Then when you start the game the files will be loaded again from the gcf files.
I had a problem with map c3a2d where I got no sound until I did this.
