Not really outdated, the Apache and AH1 Cobra are way more older than the Comanche.
Besides the Comanche is awesome but expensive
MEC2 isn't exactly 'near future' its also alternative timeline (ie; see MEC1 using combat SR71's).
Before we removed stealth from the mod entirely, the idea was for all of the UN aircraft to be stealthed...and so the Comanche was logical. We kept it since it is still pretty fun to use.
For an attack helicopter it should have been the AH-64 Apache. The new blocks on the Apache make it much better performing than any other helicopter on the planet currently. The Comanche project was cancelled a long time ago and would have only been used as reconnaissance, you would never use a stealth attack helicopter, only fixed wing aircraft.
the thing is the largest benefit to the US military's stealth aircraft, is their stealth, the Apache has more firepower than the Comanche, the F-15 can hold more than the F-22. stealth aircraft in order to remain stealth must hide their weapons internally, once they open up to release their weapons their stealth is removed, because missiles reflect radar waves like a beacon, the ability of the older aircraft like the F-15 and AH-64 is they can carry their weapons externally on hard-points and therefore hold more, something the Comanche and F-22 cann't do.
i know for a fact Apaches can hold 16 anti-tank missiles on its hardpoints, and 2 self defence Anti-air missiles, the Comanche, can only deploy 6 anti-tank missiles, also i just read the project was canceled in 2004, as well as the Comanche is officially classified as a reconisance, aircraft to spot for Apache Attack helicopters
but asside from firepower the commanche is more manuverable, and is reconnaisance because it can fly really low, and is very quiet
i guess in this game it could be anti-infantry?
