Tracked APCs were proving too damaging to roads in built up areas and were maintenance-intensive to boot, so the IDF developed a new four-wheeled APC to use in more urban environs. With no weapons of its own, this new APC is protected by thick armor and the troops inside who can fire their weapons through gun-ports on all sides. APCs are the most frequently used units to defend town points and other valuable urban positions due to their maneuverability, armor, but lower psychological impact on the locals when compared to tanks.
