That's right, for the 6th time in a row we are now in the TOP 100 of the annual ModDB Mod of the Year Awards thanks to your votes and support. As usual, getting into the TOP 100 means that we are up for the 2nd round of voting to rise up in the ranks even higher, which is why we ask you to vote for Mental Omega once MOre! As you know we spend our free time to develop this mod further and all we ask for is your further support in this annual competition, for which we are eternally thankful. Follow this link and click the 'Vote' button to the left of our logo.

To show you our gratitude, we are going to show you some brand new stuff we've been working on. Time for a Mental Omega News Bulletin, in the very classic format.

Mobile Construction Vehicle

Last Bastion's Mastodon

Teratorn

Last Bastion's Sweeper

Haihead's Irritator

The MCV needs no introduction, right? The Mastodon is Last Bastion's T3 "monster tank", equipped with cutting-edge technology to the maximum, its main purpose is to destroy enemy armored vehicles at great ranges and on a large scale. Its plasma railgun has an area of effect and deals lots of damage, however before the attack can happen, the weapon needs to charge up.

The Teratorn is a Tier 1 anti-aircraft vehicle which locks on to enemy aircraft before firing a powerful missile, stronger than most Tier 1 anti-aircraft vehicles, however easier to outmaneuver, especially by faster aircraft. It has no means of attacking ground units.

The Sweeper is a unit unique to the Last Bastion. It is a hover drone vehicle enhanced with the windspin engine which allows it to acquire large speed boosts when near a Spinblade, a special structure deployed via a support power anywhere on the battlefield. The Spinblade can boost many of Side 4's vehicles as well as some infantry units, so strategic deployment of this structure is necessary. When Sweeper is deployed, it becomes cloaked and ready to fire a volley of anti-unit missiles at an unsuspecting enemy. It does not reveal its position when firing, but a careful enemy should have no problems locating it if they notice the source of the missile barrage.

The Irritator is Haihead's special unit designed to throw enemy forces into disarray with an experimental ray mounted on its back. When deployed, the Irritator changes its weapon mode and prepares to fire a flare which will make enemy units easier to target and take more damage.

Soviet Iron Dragon

Soviet Grumble

The Iron Dragon returns as a new stolen tech unit which the Soviets can acquire after infiltrating one of Side 4's special technology structures. Its weapon has been enhanced and so the unstable particle field will now heavily damage all units which cross it while it lasts. With an Iron Dragon in their arsenal, the Soviets will find it easier to eliminate the heavy ground units of Side 4.

The Grumble is an advanced anti-aircraft vehicle with a very long range, which becomes active after deploying its launchers on the ground. This unit cannot fire on the move, however when deployed it will essentially create an impassable barricade for most light aircraft and will have no difficulties taking down the heavier ones as well.

Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for your support thus far!

For some reason I think the new AI in 3.0 isn't as good and crazy as it was in 2.0.

They don't build much naval units to attack. It's boring as hell playing Islands mode.

Soviet AI, especially Russia is kinda weaker than the other.

AI do Better than 2.0(I play against on Mental AI)

- Spy, Spy everywhere
- They attack with multiple unit unlike 2.0 that they just spam Prism Tank, Kirov, UFO
- Use Naval Unit while 2.0 never use.

Most time I get ****** by AI Spy.

Wrong, 2.0 AI use a lots of naval units to attack. And that was on normal difficulty.

They always dominate the sea, so much that it's very hard to protect your naval yard and get a fleet of 5 destroyers out.

The latest patch, that is.

Really? In our experience, the Soviet AI actually trumps the other AI more often than not.

As this is a beta, AI improvements are not out of the question, but there's only so much you can do with it.

I tested many times both today and yesterday. On all Normal AI difficulty

Soviet seems to prefer infantry attacks over vehicles. Beating them isn't hard, while HQ and Scorpion attacks are highly devastating and Allies are on the good level.

I will try Mental and see if they would be as strong as 2.0 Insane or not. Also Meteor Swarm as well.

The AI doesn't cheat as much as it did in 2.0, that's why it may seem easier. Go play Meteor Shower if you want a cheating bastard.

yeah i agree, but the new ai is good though. it sends units often, not like in 2.0 it sends units only in the early game then stops after. plus it's more tactical now

I noticed that 3.0 has not included 2.0 maps
Is there a possibility that you will add in to 3.0 in the future?

Perhaps. Several maps were removed because they caused problems in-game, or even crashes. If you'd really like to see specific maps return, post about it on our forum!

Okay, need to ask a few things. Number one, What is Volkov's obession with Stalin's thighs? Number two, do you happen to have any voxel renderings of MO units I can have? I play this 3D building game on the internet, and I've been building Tiberian Sun units(using Reborn), and having a few MO units would be awesome(I don't know if this falls under the whole stealing thing, since it's just the render and not the fully-coded unit, but if it does, ignore this). And Number three, why are some of the walls in the campaign(chiefly Allied, it seems) not correctly allied? For example, in the second Allied mission, the walls for the Allied outpost are mostly dark grey, only the 4x4 square in the top right corner is actually blue.

"I cry back Stalin's times." Blame Speeder, he's the VA.
3) is a limitation of how wall owners are set up. YR bug.

I.. I mean Volkov says 'times', silly! The walls always remap to the color of the closest buildings, not to their supposed owner's color, that's how the engine handles it.

It's much more humorous if he says thighs, so I'm keeping it. Not even mind control will make me see otherwise.

Easily one of the best, most professional "YR+" mods around. MO is genuinely produced as a "YR expansion", continuing the game's theme and storyline with a whole brand new campaign for all three factions.

While bringing in a few new ideas and a lot of new units for the games houses (without being overcrowded), MO doesn't depart too much from the original games atmosphere - a great mod for anyone who wants 'a little bit more YR'.

Most 1-point reviews are baseless troll reviews. Perhaps their MCV got stolen.

So is this one.
