It's been a while since we've last updated and we felt it would be insulting to our watchers to just leave it as it is without saying a word. Over the last few months progress had slowed to a crawl and with it, motivation, to the point where it bordered on becoming a chore as opposed to an enjoyable experience. As such, we are officially declaring this mod on indefinite hiatus and apologize to fans of the Warhammer 40k universe as well as Men of War players who took interest in this attempt to convert an excellent strategy title into the brutal universe of WH40K.

guys, LynX only wants good for the mod and that we dont get shut down for using assets from an other game. what he's saying is true there is no reason to give him negative Karma.

LynX thank you for the comments and concern and we are aware of it and are working on it.

That's good to hear Chompster. Yes I did read about the CoH mod, it was discussed in the DMS modding forums.

The DMS developers were very gracious in giving permission to the modders to use their models, but sadly this sort of generosity is the exception rather than the rule. And the guy who did it was actually an employee of DMS, who also modded for company of heroes (sadly he passed away)

In any case, if you're looking for additional help with art to get things rolling, you can ask on the relicnews forums, they've a huge amount of great artists there. I myself am a longtime modder, so if you need some smaller items (weapons, gear, props) i'd be open to making some contributions.

i am well aware of Relicnews they indeed have a very larg group of talented modders. i even test for one of the biggest and oldest DoW mods(FoK) and i thought about asking and i know someone who has almost every model we could possibly need, i have a feeling all his assets are only for the DoW game and rather not give them away for the use in something else.

but eitherway we have already found a way passed this and all models are already underway of being replaced :)
its always nice to have some extra help im sure SRB-CausesOrange can happily agree with me on that lol
have a little chit-chat with him and see. cant imagen him turning you down, id happily welcome your help.

offering to help with smaller items(weapons, gear, props) is what got me to join lol

I'm not giving him low karma I gave him nice but people issued low karma I am thankful that he cares for the mod and I am trying to explain things nicely to him but I'm a little agitated at how many people have told us this in a rude way but he has taken his time to calmly explain everything and nicely and for that I thank him but like I said we have future plans for the models

Frankly people have given you a logical and well though out explanation like this before (myself) and all you did was dismiss us as trolls and delete our posts. It is nice to see you using models that aren't from DoW now, and like I've always said I wish you the best.

Hi SRB, while i'm excited that someone is making a 40k mod for Men of War, your mod has art assets ripped straight from Dawn of War.

Compare that space marine model you have to DoW1's model and texture:

Its exactly the same, right down to the weathering and scuffs in the texture. The model looks distorted in your mod but its obvious to me they are the same.

The Imperial Guardsman in your trailer video also is ripped (but modified to be helmetless) from DoW, the textures on the gun and body match DoW's perfectly.

The other art assets like the Imperial Guard tanks are also ripped from Dawn of War, if you care to check you should install DoW1 and its expansions and check the models and textures in the Army Painter.
Some appear to have been modified (chimera lacks the bulldozer blade in your mod) but they are still the same models and textures.

You should make your own art assets as it is illegal to rip material from other games and put it into another.
Games Workshop is notorious for being very defensive of its Intellectual Property, and using copyrighted material, taken from an official game no less is a sure ticket to get a C&D order from their legal department.

In closing I wish you luck with the mod, and look forward to see your own models and textures in the game.

i'm well aware they are from DoW, but they are only there as place holders to build up a concept of the mod and so progress can continue without having to be stalled due to lack of content. only having 2 modelers you can imagen things wont move all that fast. i wouldnt worry if i were you the plans are to replace all with our own models, it might take awhile but hopefully we will come to the point where its mostly our own content that is in the mod :)

but just to point out using assets from other game really isnt anything new. just look at the company of heroes afrika mod, they are using a lot of models from men of war.. all they do is re-texture them.

Buddy...We have discussed this with 100 other people we went as far as to messaging GW and Relic and asking them for their models and got no reply back we already told you we didn't rip it we got it from a Russian team who said they didn't rip it we are already going through with replacing the head of the IG because it looks out of place and the dozer add on is a variant not a must to go on the vehicle. And like Isimiel said IG would have asked us to remove the models in the message they sent rather than to ask us to change the name and tell us about why it is illegal to use their name (Warhammer 40K) in our mod.

~LynX Aug 7 2011, 3:02pm replied:

Obviously they will not give you their models even if you asked nicely, because there is no profit in it for them.

Also, your team may not have personally ripped the models from the game, but if those russian modders say those models are 100% original work of theirs then they are lying.

But don't take my word for it, go and check them yourself, look and compare the textures and models.
If you really still can't see it after comparing it yourself, i'll make comparison shots pointing them out.

I don't claim to know why they just asked you to change the name, but i'm willing to bet they didn't actually check your art assets, or they are not aware of them. Even if the work is modified, the art assets are under copyright.

DMS themselves are very strict with art assets, and have shut down mods that used assets ripped from other games (modern warfare mod that had tanks and guns from ARMA, among others).

Like I said, i'm happy that you are making this mod, but you have to do things on the straight and narrow or you'll always be worrying about legal action.

☢SRB-DrunkSoviet☢ Aug 7 2011, 4:41pm replied:

They made us change the name due to "Warhammer 40K" being a registered trademark logo and legal action would have been taken and yes they did check over the mod and they would have reported it to Relic and they would have taken legal action but seeing as it didn't bother them and the fact that that is all we have for the IG's and SM's we will keep it in the mod until Relic or GamesWorkshop sends a warning message and we are having plans for the models like I stated in the previous comment now I don't mean to sound like a jerk,******* or anything like that because I'm trying to explain as nicely as I can because from the beginning people started pointing it out and it annoys me a little considering people started to troll on my page and the mod (Not talking about the people who pointed the models out).
Also I very much believe they are Ripped
