Most did however remove the star in combat or post 1941, hence why not many photos have them wearing the star on the hat.

Dear Heer Sturmfuhrer, I really respect your work, but there were newer red stars on soviet tank helments. Check with military photos of that war and also Rkka.ru

don't forget to remodel the ear/ radio parts. that is the main difference between 40's and 80's version of the headgear ;)
