READ THE MANUAL AND README.TXT BEFORE PLAYING
A NOTE FOR BEGINNERS:
The AI is challenging, depending also on the map. The easiest map so far is Country Roads. If you are a beginner set the easy game difficulty in the option menu, otherwise you might find the game frustrating. You can increase the difficulty setting later, when you have learned the game mechanisms.
INSTALLATION:
Unzip the file in the Mods folder of Men of War. If it does not exist, create it and then unzip the mod there. Start Men of War, go to Option, then go to the MOD tab. There look for the mod in the left list, select it and use the arrow to move to the right list. Press Apply.
KNOWN ISSUES:
The reinforcements menu might cross the display boundaries sometimes, especially when you are using a 16:10 monitor. There is not much I can do because the reinforcement menu is hardcoded, so I can't change it. I've tried to add more reinforcement categories, so It shouldn't be a great problem now. I'm sorry but apparently making a slider for menus and windows was too hard for DMS
MOD GOALS:
Men of War is probably the best ww2 strategy game on the market, but it lacks most of all one thing: a skirmish mode where you can have huge battles against an AI player. It is a shame that you have so many units available that you can rarely use in the campaigns.
Battlefield mode is a unique skirmish mode, more advanced than those you can find in Assault Squad, whose objectives are the following:
• Create a challenging single player skirmish with a great variety of battles.
• Build a sandbox to allow inexperienced players to set up their own scenario quickly given a prebuilt map.
BATTLEFIELD MODE IN DETAILS:
Battlefield mode is a skirmish mode based on map point controls. Unlike multiplayer games, control points provide resources to buy reinforcements. Each control point grants you command points, used to buy reinforcements, and tech points. Tech points are needed in order to unlock more advanced units. Every minute you receive a new amount of command and tech points based on the control points you own.
Besides each nation can use a set of Support Commands which unlock Support Operations. Support Operations are special abilities like airstrikes or special unit reinforcements which can be unlocked by support points. Some control points provide you with these support points.
CURRENT PROGRESS:
The mod now includes several Battlefield scenarios and 5 playable factions (Germany, USA, Commonwealth, Japanese Empire and Soviet Union). Besides I have completely reworked gun stats to make them more realistic (based on penetration tables from www.tarrif.net) and added new units (some taken from other mods, see the credits in readme.txt).
FUTURE GOALS:
• Include Soviet Union and Axis allied nations as playable factions in the Battlefield mode.
• Convert the mod for Assault Squad.
• Make some tutorial missions for the Battlefield mode.
• Write a tutorial explaining how to set up your custom battlefield scenarios.
• Create a campaign for each of the nations.

This patch contains the Soviet Union faction and 5 tutorial maps, very useful for beginners. The Soviet Union features two unique traits: modernizaiton and leader units.
Modernization is used to improve existing units: Soviet Union basic units can be modernize to improve their efficiency. Each category (infantry, vehicles and artillery) has 2 levels of modernization. When you activate the modernization the unit of the lower level of modernization will be replaced by a better one as long as the modernization is active. For example if you activate modernizaiton 2 for tanks, the T-34/76 mod. 1941 will be replaced by the T-34/85.
Leader units are special units which, under ceratain conditions, unlock Leader Abilities. Leader Abilities are accessible through the reinforcement menu and does not cost point. For example if you call in a T-34 Command Tank (available with the Tank Guard Support Command) and you are close enough to an allied disabled tank, it will unlock an ability to replace the armored losses for free.
HELP REQUESTED:
As you might have already noticed, I've added 5 tutorial maps. Since I was very busy and I didn't want to delay the release of the new patch any further, I wasn't able to test them all scrupulously, so even if you've already played this mod I ask you to test the tutorial maps in order to improve them. Basically I need you to check the following points:
If you have any suggestions please let me know.For the same reasons please excuse me if you find any bugs in the battlefield maps, There shouldn't be any but if you find something (such as missing defense units, AI not starting, etc.) let me know and I will fix them as soon as possible.

Unique and much needed, in my opinion, mod, that provides the opportunity for a good old random "multiplayer-style" (unscripted, unlike any scenario, that come in a sackful) comp-stomp on a great variety of maps, which was long missing for so many Men of War players.

yesterday i didnt see it...
-good changes but do you give the player the ability to call the Guns/Arty pieces without trucks, as optional option?
-do you fix the known bugs as "no rep kit" in inventary from the gun? (it was always in the transport truck)
- the ammo truck hasnt all the ammo (ap 88mm!)
-the fallschirmjägers which u can call in (them with FG42) are not there i u load a saved game?
- the "double squads" which the ai calls?
- the comet tank is for ALL tommy sections or only for one ?

1) I want to hear what other people think about this change, because honestly I find it useless.
2) This is not a bug, it is wanted. The repair kit is in the gun truck, because it is more realistic that a repair kit is stored inside a truck and not in a gun (Yeah I know that a gun shouldn't be able to carry 60 rounds either, but that's because of playability)
3) Thanks for remembering me that, I had completely forgotten about that bug.
4) That's not anything I can fix: if it is a problem with save/load game it is hardcoded and not changeble by me. Personally I tried to load when I had FG-42 Fallschirmjagers on the map and it worked. Maybe you just thought they were there but they were not. Did it happen once or more?
5) I'm working on the UK AI right now but I'll fix that for sure.
6) Comet is available for all Support Commands: All standard UK units are always unlocked, this is a particular features of UK, they have few units but always available. The only tanks that are Support dependant are the Churchill MK VII (Desert Rats) and the Tetrarch MK VII (Commando - dropped from Hamilcar Glider).
- ah and pls more skins and maps (in the future, if u have guys who can do it)
- ai enemies/allies/ u can choose the enemy/allie Doctrin
- more subfaction specialites, AB-Doc only use AB Men also an heavy weapons like mortar or mg, light vehicles and strong and cheap airstrikes :P
- a faction like "ONLY Waffen-SS" with other skins then normal soldiers and better equipment.
- Marines should fight against Japs not vs wehrmacht :P
and pls kill the "cheat ai" the bugs, more munition for HMG/Mortars and bring the ability to get a Pak or Artillery Unit WITHOUT the trucks.
i hope u get the time for this GREAT mod and the ideas.
Nice suggestions, although I won't make the AB Support use only airborne units, maybe I can change the airstrike.
You are right that marines should fight only Japanese, in the campaign they will, but it is a Support Command, so in a skirmish you can choose. It is not realistic either seeing USA fighting against UK, but in Men of War multiplayer you can, so why not having it here? You can always choose a realistic opponent/support command.
I will add more ammo for HMG (like 3000 rounds and 1500 AP rounds, see the changelog of the new version in the news).
Maybe in the future I can implement the Waffen - SS faction replacing some of the existing support commands, if someone makes the skins for it.

ok but i mean that AB can only use light vehicles and sherman/hellcat tanks, maybe slugger.
that the weapon crews are AB soldiers too, that was the mind.
and pls give the japs the real tanks, not the super heavy weight prototyps from vanilla mow :P
the marines, same like the ab doctrine = weapon crews, vehicle crews should be marines and no "normal" rifle men. They should use stuart, halftruck and sherman/croc.
Please bring more differents for the subfactions, pls dude! :D

They are already like this, except for weapon crews. I mean AB weren't trained to drive tanks or to operate static guns, except maybe the 57mm M1 which could be air dropped on the battlefield. The same for marines: they were anphibious infantry, not tank drivers or gun operators: they landed on the beach but Shermans were driven by the same crew as in the US Army. Maybe I could add a general unit called "Weapon crew" for static guns, but I think standard riflemen might do.
In any case if you look at the table in the manual, you will se that AB doctrine has only Sherman, Hellcat and Slugger, Marines have Sherman/Sherman Crocodile, Hellcat Slugger, the Infantry Support has light tanks such as the Stuart and M8 and halftracks, the Armored Cavalry has all the armor available, that is, Sherman 76(W), Sherman Jumbo assault tank, M36 Slugger, M 26 Pershing and M8 Scott SP Light Howitzer, so there already is a lot of differentiation.
Don't worry, the Japs will have only REAL tanks, as any other faction (for example there are no T-29 for USA nor Turtle or Black Prince for UK). Their tanks will suck compared to the US tanks, but they will be able to build heavy naval gun emplacements and they will have the best air and naval force in the game (as they had in WW2). Russian won't have IS-3 but their tanks will be good.
Also, I don't see the point in allowing the player to choose non towed guns and towed guns. If you don't need the towing vehicle kust detach the gun when it spawns, it is not that hard.
ok ok :P but the strongest infantry, tanks (42-45), airplanes (pilots) and weaponcrews had the germans, but u make it good, that 1 tiger can wipe out 1000 of shermans, like real ww2 :D
Well, even a Panzer IV Ausf. H if you don't let them close enough :D! The Luftwaffe sucked pretty much after 1942 becaue they lost many planes in the Battle of England and in the Eastern Front, but they didn't care because they didn't know air force could be so powerful because in the Eastern Front it was pretty useless due to large empty spaces and ideal ground for AA guns. In Normandy 70% of the German armor divisions were wiped out by carpet bombing made by USAF and RAF.
yes, u have right. but this is not the place to talk over the war, my english sucks really hard and we talk better about the mod :P
but i mean that the german pilots (Nachtkampfjäger/Abfangjäger, Jagdflieger) were the best

Yeah, that's my mistake, I'm gonna fix it in the next version. In any case, in every game the AI cheats, believe me :).
