== MechWarrior: Living Legends ==

"Will you be a living legend or a forgotten casualty?"

By the 31st century, humanity has spread to thousands of worlds, while a handful of powerful empires wage continual war for the right to rule the stars. Foremost among the weapons used in that struggle are BattleMechs. Loaded with auto cannons, missile launchers, lasers, and charged-particle beam weapons, these fusion-powered war machines of articulated armor stand upward of ten meters high. Piloting them are MechWarrior’s, the best, most intensively trained men and women available. Like the armored knights of an earlier age, MechWarrior’s are popular heroes, and their exploits are the stuff of legends.

MechWarrior: Living Legends (MWLL) is a total conversion modification for Crysis. MWLL is at its very core a mix between a First Person Shooter (FPS) and a Simulation (SIM). This will be achieved through the use of a mixed arms massively multiplayer gaming experience where the player takes part in a battle using a variety of vehicles and weapons. MWLL is using the concepts pioneered by the “Battlefield” franchise and more recently Crysis, of a sandbox feel where you get to play what you want and how you want it. MWLL depicts the epic struggles between the two factions of Battletech “The Clans” and “The Inner Sphere”. Maps will typically have a mix of vehicles and infantry combat, using both of these to complete objectives as a team will be essential to winning rounds or campaigns in MWLL. In the project we will be bringing some of the legends of “MechWarrior” franchise back to life with new art and animations that do justice to these huge weapons of war and also do something that’s never be done before using the deep universe of Battletech. There are so many facets to Battletech and finally comes a title that is willing to explore them.

Major Features:

  • Massive, highly detailed outdoor environments.
  • Epic multiplayer missions that thrusts players into an ever-changing environment, forcing them to adapt their tactics and approach to conquer battlefields ranging from desert to tundra to alpine.

Hey there to all our ModDB fans! We have some fantastic news to share with you today!

There has been ongoing talk regarding MWLL switching or "porting" all the assets over to a new engine for the last few months and we believe it's time to change game engines. There is alot of reasons for this...one of the more important ones being the overall popularity of ET:QW diminishing as well as the constant pushing back of release dates. Right now the title will be releasing at around the same time as other engines that are far superior in ALL regards, namely Crysis.

There were many things we wanted to achieve in ET:QW that are inherently not possible or very difficult to do. One of them being achieving the true MechWarrior scale. Since in ET:QW we are restricted to a 1 square mile map there really isn't alot we can do with hulking battlemechs on such a small map. Crysis features maps up to 60KM wide and with view distances between 14km and 60km! Another big factor was the fact that in ET:QW destructible environments are non-existent and in Crysis almost everything is completely interactive. Just imagine yourself in a 80 Ton 13 meter tall battlemech tromping down trees and buildings.

Being a true NextGen title, Crysis offers us far more features for us to use to our advantage - Time of Day Lighting, Dynamic Soft Shadows, God Rays, 3D Ocean Technology, Motion Blur, and Fully Interactive/Destructible Environment and many more! Also, Crysis offers a far more sophisticated SDK for us to work with and will enable us to produce levels and assets far quicker than what was possible in ET:QW. Not only quicked but to a much higher quality than even conceived in the Doom 3 engine.

We really look forward to your feedback on the move and to our ET:QW fans we sincerly apologize it was a unanimous decision on the teams part and we hope you'll stay with us for Crysis!

TBH the models on this mod looked better when they weren't coloured. The colours make them look like toys...

Hey dudes,

Just to give a heads up, the rights from Mech Warrior are now in hands of Smith & Tinker ( Smithandtinker.com ) They bought it from MS.
Might be smart to contact those fellows, if you didn't already, and discuss it.

Further good luck with your mod! There can't be enough mech games!!!

Ignore the above... (where is the edit button?)
They only took a license (they didn't bought the IP).
So i guess there is no problem.

I may have to buy Crysis now >.>
Ever since I upgraded to XP, none of my old Mechwarrior games have worked properly. Now I'll get to play them with BETTER graphics and REAL-LIVE PEOPLE! 'Cause the on-line commuinity for M3 just plain sucked. Oh, bring back the Timberwolf/Madcat!
