Loving MC2Omnitech so far. Started having a few crashes on-entry to the menu (after a mission), but nothing too frequent. Hoping it stays that way.

Really enjoying the changes you made to the game, even in the unmodified Carver5 campaign. Almost like a whole new game.

One question for you:
Do you know where the game sounds are resourced from?

I assume they are in one of the PAK files. I did some digging around, but didn't really come up with anything useful for viewing/extract the contents of MC2 PAK files.

The reason I ask is that I've always hated the volume level on some of the weapon sounds. Machine guns in particular are annoyingly loud, especially in groups (which is odd, as they are little pop-guns and shouldn't drown out a big PPC or Gauss Rifle).

Given the opportunity, I'd love to level that audio clip down some, and maybe tweak a few others.

I already adjusted Col. Reynard's speech when he's attacking the Gulag in the Liao missions, which was one of the un-PAK'ed simple WAV files.

That file was never normalized in volume to match the other dialog in the game. Easy enough to fix - if you'd want the adjusted file to add to the Carver5 campaign pack, just let me know.

Of course I want that file, please upload somewhere or send me the file.

There is a file sound.pak. It has all weapon sounds inside.

In order to unpack you will have to use an old tool:

1. extract files
xplist -u sound.pak a wav -r

2. pack files
xplist -r sound.rsp sound.pak -r

Sound rsp is the file with file order to be put in pak file.
I will look through my archives for example.

So I tried to work with you mission editor but to no avail, whenever I go to save the .pak files, mission editor crashes and forces me to restart my computer to remove the non responsive program. :(

Please read the MCO requirements.txt

If you want to use the editor, you will have to also install the XNA build for the editor (extract xna build and don't dbl click XNABuildSetup.exe. Dbl click XNA Build System.msi.
It will install and report an error in the end about something missing. Just finish the install and it will be OK.

Love the fact that others are trying to keep this game alive. Hoped for years that An MC3 would be released but this is the next best thing, a fan created continuation of an addicting and fun game.
