NEWS UPDATE 10022014

WHAT IS NEW

- Salvage pilot selection list box - player can select pilot for in-mission salvage.
- Formations button added to control gui, connected with hot key K. Added formations descriptions.
- Xna is completely removed from the game.
- I made an universal brain file and how to make purchase files TXT
- Logistics Pilot - read ID from pilot file. Unique pilot ID added to all Pilot files.
- Start Camera direction is in the direction of the first players unit.
- New Pilot Hire Screen, hire additional pilots. You can hire as many as you want, but you will have to pay them after each mission.
- New sound effects for Autocannons, Lasers, MGs and Gauss.
- Vehicles can repair in Vehicle Repair Bay.
- Buildings can now have up to 3 different (max 4, 2 nodes use first) activity effects. Required ActivityEffectID, ActivityEffect1ID and ActivityEffect2ID in building FIT file (object). Required activity nodes in model file: activity_node, activity_node1, activity_node2 and activity_node3.
- New building texture for city4storyH (wolfman), new 4 story building Film studio (texture by wolfman)
- New textures for cityBlock6Story2 and cityBlock6Story3 (by wolfman).
- Minelayer can be repaired in Vehicle Repair Bay and be minelayer again after repairs.
- Repair truck can be repaired and recharged in Vehicle Repair Bay.
- Old Specialty skills removed,
- 3 new specialty skills added: Ballistic, Energy and Missile. Calculated per shots fired and shot hits. Can raise hit chance up to 10%.
- Pilot ready screen - attribute meters for specialty skills added.
- If pilot is on the roster and in purchase file dont create purchase entry for that pilot.
- Turret shot animation added.

If its working for you.... what settings do you have it running on? what GFX chipset? what changes did you have to make? what OS are you running? did you have to remove or make changes to any of the CVS's? any of those kind of answers would prove to be a better help.

FYI I am trying to get it to run on an alienware custom system M17x model. with the above mentioned 64 bit win7 os. GFX chiset is the a switchable intel onboard and ati radeon mobility 7970m. Getting both the onmitech mod and the original MechCommander 2 has been a major issue thus far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not here to make bragging posts about hardware; simply installed it without any changes nor specific settings and it runs. The fact that I answered implies that I run it on a win7 64bit system. You asked regarding OS not specific hardware.

This question is as old as the Source Code Release and was answered plenty of times; the embedded video is based on third party code (Binkvideo) and therefore taken out of the source code (most likely for legal/licensing reasons). Bringing video back means to integrate any free video formate. It is not a simple setting or parameter change.

Would it be possible replace the relevant files from the original MechCommand 2 into MCO so that the videos play?
I realize you can't release the videos, and that's not what I'm asking; I already own the original MechCommander 2, so I *have* the videos, I'm just wanting to know if there's a way I can get those videos from the original MechCommander 2 to play in the stand-alone mod.

No, code parts for reading and playing BIK files are removed from shared source release and are not part of MCO.

Love the fact that others are trying to keep this game alive. Hoped for years that An MC3 would be released but this is the next best thing, a fan created continuation of an addicting and fun game.
