Mechcommander OmniTech is a standalone game based on Mechcommander 2 shared source code release by Microsoft. A game based in the universe of a great and fun franchise, a game with lots of tactical components and full of possibilities. There is no need for Mechcommander 2 installation nor disk.
Mech Commander Omnitech 559 Win 10, win 8 and 8.1 fix. No more resolution detection, the game will run in desktop resolution and adjust object positions to resolution in logistics screens (mostly buttons at the bottom of the screen for now). Mission is resolution independent from long time ago. I had to remove almost everything from loading screen... Will add static pic of dropship landing with please wait text, when I find a good one. Min resolution the game should run is 1024x768. Min Y value is 768, min X value should be 1024 - should work without problems for 1200+. I have done many things to improve MCO over the years but its engine is from the year 2000 and there is no point to continue with this engine. The engine was never released with MC2 code. MCO needs a new engine. If anyone here can help and port MCO to any newer engine please help. With new engine and all the changes I have made, it can be all new game.
What engine do you think about? Like some free one or Unity?
Unity has a free version too.
Yes possibly free...
Any progress on porting this to a newer engine?
Great work Magic, really looking forward to playing this, but my launch buttons are still off screen.......please help
Running 559 on a windows 10 laptop
I am having trouble getting it to work on Windows 10. I tried all compatibility modes. Can someone help please?
Theres no need for compatibility modes. Just install and if you install on system drive make sure you run it as administrator.
And please install VC++ 2010. It can be found in MechCommanderOmnitech/REDIST folder.
What is happening when you start MCO.
The game blacks out the screen momentarily then just closes. This happens even when I run as administrator.
Having the exact same issue myself
GhostBear, krash, what are your desktop resolutions?
Also, try this:
Right mouse click on your Mech Commander Omnitech Desktop icon. Click properties.
Look for:
Target: D:\MechCommanderOmnitech\MCORel.exe
add " /gosnojoystick " :
D:\MechCommanderOmnitech\MCORel.exe /gosnojoystick
That seems to have worked, thanks much :)
This fix "worked" for me, it does seem to get further than before, but now i'm stuck on "another application is preventing this from opening in full-screen"... #sadface
Hey guys if you can't get the game to run download dg voodoo 2 and drop it and the 3 MS files into your installation directory where the executable is. Once the game starts disable hardware mouse update/rasterizer in options

The game runs now, but the display is so big that the upper left quarter of the interface takes up the whole computer screen. I can go to options, but the button to accept changes is off the screen to the right.
My bro-in-law noticed that I had the game set to run in 640x480 in properties. This fixed the problem.
Not a buddy, GhostBearAssault72. I have seven 64 bits. I got out of the situation like this:
1 properties of the Mech Commander Omnitech shortcut on the desktop comes in the "compatibility" tab.
2. I put a bird on "run as administrator".
3. Insert a bird on "disable image scaling at high screen resolution."
And all at once got into my screen. And then the guard was already shouting !!!!!

I don't understand why but this ''/gosnojoystick'' finaly work for me. Thank a lot Mr MagicX :)
Please help. Im running on Win 8.1 yet I cant play the game. It will start fine, but when I load a new campaign I cant even get to the mech selection screen as there is no next button. Im also using 559.... Im unsure of my laptops resolution, it used to ply MCO just fine, yet now it wont.... Im seriously frustrated, as altering the properties hasnt worked and none of the forced resolutions worked either.
Ok, this is the first game I have bothered to log in to the windows 10 partition to play. The problem is that I cannot get it to launch successfully. I have tried the gosnojoystick trick as well as compatibility modes with no success. I have installed the VCREDIT that the software listed that I needed as well. The crash happens shortly after starting the program. The game opens a small window, then tries to go to desktop resolution. That is where is crashes and gives me the no software rasterizer available 0x0 error. I can provide crash report if you want it. System specs are Windows 10 Pro, I5 3570k, GTX 970 running at resolution 2560x1080. Note using version 559.
Does it matter if a newer version of c++ 2010 is found on the system?
Questions:
1.-Is this version different than 424 in any way other than Win 8 and 10 compatibility (I use Win7)
2.-Are all previous campaigns compatible with this MCO version?
3.-How can I share some TGA images I made so you can Include them on your game?
