Hey everyone just a brief news update and fun poll.

A lot of people have been asking for a poll to ask the public what their favourite faction is, well this is your chance to state your factions dominance against the others.

State your most desired and beloved faction and give a reason as to why YOU think it's better than the others.




Update: For the Reapers it has been decided that the Sovereign class capital Reaper will have its arms semi-open. As stated before it is a very hard and long process to make movable parts for models in Sins of a Solar Empire and so as a compromise, the Sovereign class Reapers will have their arms semi-open.

Council. Because once they get their act together and actually deploy, they can pwn anything. Even the Reapers. With massive ships like the Destiny Ascension to tiny high-powered frigates like the Normandy (and Normandy SR2) they use every tactic because of the diversity that the different races bring. And of course because Turians are amazing generals.....

I think the Alliance fleet because they're the good guys and what they lack in firepower compared to the Reapers they make up for (a little at least) in numbers and in general they're just awesome! They've managed to hold together as a team against all odds. They deserve the best.

As of now they're locked in a cage in my dungeon of a basement. With every post that says anything else but Cerberus, I take one out, put some cat food in front of it as to lure it's defenses, put on my cleats, and...stomp!

In ME, there is varying ranges at which fights occur. Large Dreadnought weapons fire over long ranges and deal large damage, whilst the smaller ships engage at closer ranges.
If this idea was followed, Reaper Capital Ships and Titans would have a large range bonus over that of any other ship in game. The Destiny Ascension would likely be the next longest range, with the other Titans coming in after than. Combat Capital ships would then have slightly shorter ranges than the Titans, whilst Cruisers and non-combat Capitals would have a fair difference in range between them and the other ships. Frigates would probably be 3/4 of engagement range of Cruisers, and fighters would have a tiny range.

The Sins method is to have all ships have the same range, except LRMs, resulting in what is basically two lines of ships firing on each other. Capitals have the same range as Cruisers, same as Frigates, and dependent on the Weapon generally same as Titans. Strike Craft move, so its harder to tell their range, but the battles all occur in a relatively small space.

Personally I'd prefer for the ME style. Keeps true to ME more, and makes the fights a bit more interesting than just lines of ships [Though you guys are putting in Dynamic Combat, which will make things a bit better] firing on each other. The AI would probably have some issues due to that, however, and it likely wouldn't play quite the same as Sins.

The cutscenes are made to look cool, not to follow Mass Effect Lore. Read the Codex entry for Space Combat: General Tactics in Mass Effect 1.

Haha, funny you should ask as I was looking at all the details of Mass Effect space combat recentely. So this is how its gonna work:

Frigates: These, well at least most of them will have the dynamic combat abilities shared with interceptors and fighters. They will zip about the battlefield fending of squandrons and attacking the bigger ships up close and personal. They are also very useful for screening your fleet.

Cruisers: They will be the infantry of your fleets. They can protect your flanks and usually fire in a nice orderly line as they close upon the enemy (you will have to order the movement of them to use the broadside guns). They are useful for absorbing damage and dishing it out. Bassically your stock standard troops with a few variations amongst each class.

Dreadnoughts: These are your biggest and baddest ships. They can fire the furthest with their main cannon and deal the most damage with it. As they close to the enemy as well, they can unleash broad side batteries which will most likely scare of the opposition (unless they are Reapers). They will be the flagships of your fleets and should be protected as well as utilised to best efficiency.

Fighters and Interceptors: These will come from mostely your carriers. The carriers are big but are not very handy in a fight. Keep them back from the action and let their interceptors and fighters engage the enemies interceptors and fighter as well as other larger ships.

That plus they are astoundingly kind to new members, even humans who pretty much the moment they join start whining about how they ought to be making decisions on a galactic scale. They have a vast array of ship types that each have a dedicated task that together makes for a powerful force, not in the service of any one leader or a speciest ideology like Cerberus, or for obliterating and harvesting all organic life in the galaxy like the Reapers, but for the uplifting and strengthening of all to build a better universe.

While I rarely show my opinion about anything here are my two punt. The council could win but only if the they employed the Parthian shot and kept falling back. War against the Reapers is winnable but it requires three things, 1. Every victory the Reapers gain, ensure that it is a Pyrrhic victory for them, if it is is defense of a world, scour all life from it as you retreat so you insure that they have no additional units to collect.2. If out numbered and about to lose, charge the Reaper and foil you drive core to maximum mass, I don't care what else the codex says, any cruiser sized or above object that can get close enough to a Reaper will hurt it if it can get there with four others. 3. Make them pay for ever inch of space they take from you in blood, for every world they take make them lose a hundred ships to do it.
