The reapers have returned from dark space. With Earth under attack and the mass relays in a state of chaos from refugees and the councils fleet engaging reaper forces the galaxy is a mess. The outcome is unknown, the warfare is devastating. The galaxy will never be the same.

*On a side note, is that the final texture? It looks kind of low quality compared to the WIP we saw earlier. Or is that just because the game settings aren't on high?
Mip mapping. At a distance the game lowers texture quality.
IMO Sins seems to do it excessively, I wish I knew a way to mod that. I guess for its day it was alright in that department, being an RTS and all, but with the sorts of computers around when Rebellion was released they could have improved that a bit.
Eh, maybe its like multi-core processing and they'd need to do a lot of work on the engine to fix that, but it'd surprise me for just mipmapping. Oh well, can make do as is.

Aren't the 6 arms on the back of the body closed during space flight? in the first game sovereign uses them to grab hold of the citadel's hull but has them closed when attacking the citadel defenses. In the other games they are used to stabilize the ship or grab on to stuff in space.
The models look great with the arms half-open, not meant as a critic :)

the are in several scene throughout mass effect, i played with it and decided i like it more half open. We can always change it later
Maybe to create a bit of variety (besides the actual structural differences), some of the different reaper types could have the arms closed, some open and some half-open.
Maybe the small reapers (frigates) could have the arms closed, medium units (cruisers) could have them half-open and the large units (capital ships) could have them open.

I'm gonna be honest, I kinda want to play as the Reapers in my first game.

Funny thing is if you play leviathan DLC you find out there beginning, so really that reaper comment is flawed... *cough* Don't hit the face.
