The reapers have returned from dark space. With Earth under attack and the mass relays in a state of chaos from refugees and the councils fleet engaging reaper forces the galaxy is a mess. The outcome is unknown, the warfare is devastating. The galaxy will never be the same.

Description
The Normandy SR3 is a design created by the Systems Alliance prior to the release of the Normandy SR2. This design includes better engines, more offensive weapons thanks to the Turians, following the battle for the citadel. The Alliance has kept this design classified above top secret in-order to it keep out of Cerberus hands.

This isn't the SR2 this is completely different build, google Normandy SR3 its a newer normandy. Im using the sr2 and sr3.
i though the Alliance was still working with the SR-1 design.
The SR-1 was a test ships almost three years before the conclusion of ME2. Designs for the Cerberus SR-2 were leaked and found by the Systems Alliance Corp of Engineers. They quickly came up with this design outfitted with some superior fire power and kinetic barriers, and rushed it out of dry dock to combat, #1 The onslaught of the Batarian Hegemony follow the incident at the alpha relay. #2 The possible reaper threat, following the advice of Councilor Anderson.
I get to use my imagination and keep it within the realm of canon. Win.
Yeah i say keep the ship but for reference to those who were wondering its still the SR2 in ME3
