Welcome Modders and Mod users,

I'm trying to fix some of the "uglies" in ME1 and give it the polished look the epic story line deserves. So far I have updated/re-textured: Light and Shadow Maps on walls and floors, Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, Wrex, Liara, Saren, Benezia, Udina, Council, Anderson, Joker, Chakwas, Colonists, Scientists, Keepers, Normandy, Mako, many NPC clothings, Geth ship, volus, hanar, elcor, some armors and default character armors including N7 armor (of characters re-textured). This was Acheived by texture editing (up-scaling, re-painting, adding details, adding textures, adding bump maps, and rebuilding normal maps). Finally, but probably my favorite, I made a new Film Grain Texture to replace the muddy Film Grain with a much less obnoxious ME2 "looking" effect. Now you can keep film grain on and still have a crisp picture.

Requests are always welcome :)

So, whenever I play this mod, I have a problem where it gives me a protection fault when playing for 5 minutes.
I think it may be that I have an AMD chipset but I use my GTX660.

(that was me posted as guest, forgot to log in) I fixed it somehow... I just uninstalled Mass Effect, then re-downloaded and re-installed in Steam. Then installed the BDtS add-on, then installed MEUITM. Quality AO, FXAA, high quality texture filtering, and 16x AF enabled in Nvidia CP. Played for a good while, no crashes anymore so far.

I think what caused the crash before was that I installed MEUITM before installing BDtS. Also, backup the BioGame folder like it suggests at the beginning of install!

update: btw read the readme... Turns out you also have to install a large address aware patch, and edit some stuff in bioengine.ini. Easy stuff tho.

nope still getting the occasional crash... Only remedy seems to be just to quick save often. Mod looks GREAT btw! Especially with Nvidia Quality AO and FXAA enabled.

So i downloaded your mod, installed it exactly like you're supposed to and for whatever reason, some textures are more lowres then they where without the mod! Could you explain this? I have the game as a download on origin, it's the ME trilogy version, could that fact somehow have affected the mod?

For example, when it comes to the lowres textures, Nhilus's armor is lowres, all armor except for the starting gear is lowres, weapons are lowres, etc etc....

You said in your F.A.Q section that textures can be fixed by screwing areound with the bioengie.ini file, but i can't find it! Where is it on the origin version?

Anyway, help would be appriciated and the texture that work looks ******* great!

P.S all the graphics settings are maxed and i play at 1080p

Okay, i take that back. When i booted up the game again all the textures where proper resolution.

Although i still wonder where that bioengine.ini file is...

no, only save games affect dlc and the current version doesn't touch DLC textures at all. The next version includes DLC textures, but either version does not change access to dlc.

Okay.

Although now that you mention it. In the two DLC's there are reused textures for clothes and stuff from the main game. Are they affected by this mod?

Nope it's ME1 only but some textures can be manually extracted and used in ME2 (I will do this later in another mod specifically for ME2 but I have more work with ME1), and Shepard's texture is not ME3's I had tried that last year as a test a lot of people didn't like it because it's too rugged for the first game and I agree. Instead I have created a custom shep texture that more detail using he real Vanderloo as a reference but keeps the feel of ME1 intact.

I have to say I don't have anything bad to say about this mod. It fixes the only downside of the original mass effect, that is that the textures looked quite low resolution, something I have often noticed (and disliked) when playing through the game. The amazing quality, a lot of painful hard work, and clearly a lot of dedication shown in the creation of this in my mind justifies a full 10 out of 10. You fixed the only thing I did not like about ME1, and I thank you for it. My re-play of the whole…
