Welcome Modders and Mod users,

I'm trying to fix some of the "uglies" in ME1 and give it the polished look the epic story line deserves. So far I have updated/re-textured: Light and Shadow Maps on walls and floors, Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, Wrex, Liara, Saren, Benezia, Udina, Council, Anderson, Joker, Chakwas, Colonists, Scientists, Keepers, Normandy, Mako, many NPC clothings, Geth ship, volus, hanar, elcor, some armors and default character armors including N7 armor (of characters re-textured). This was Acheived by texture editing (up-scaling, re-painting, adding details, adding textures, adding bump maps, and rebuilding normal maps). Finally, but probably my favorite, I made a new Film Grain Texture to replace the muddy Film Grain with a much less obnoxious ME2 "looking" effect. Now you can keep film grain on and still have a crisp picture.

Requests are always welcome :)

I am about 3/4's done compiling the new installer version, .mods, and fixed .tpfs, but I have been asked to fix textures (skin and teeth) and add the Geth so I can't give an exact date, I do all of this in my free time and work has been busy. I hope 1-2 weeks but for safeties sake assume 1 month.

As far as improvements to the old version I have finished so far:

I have fixed all femshep and Ash's teeth (they were miss aligned in the center and slightly yellow),
finished medium Turian Colossus armor properly,
removed a seam from Anderson's head, and whitened his teeth a bit,
overhauled Benzia (much more detail now).
Geth done,
Husks done,
Final Saren.
Nhilus Armor,

I still need to retouch the volus, and finish converting all of the textures into fixed tpfs, .mods, and the installer.

So there is still a ton of work.

Hello @ all,

first of all thank you very much for the tremendous work.
But I have an issue with that mod maybe you can help me.

My problem is that the "N7 armor" and other armor are shimmering in an annoying way. My settings are on high quality and on Full HD (game settings).
In addition I tried the SGSAA settings (4 x super sampling + 4SGS)it helped a lot but the game was unplayable (<25 fps). With lower settings of the mentioned above, the shimmering appears again but not so worst, as without the SGSAA.

Here my PC settings:

Laptop with Windows 8
Intel Core 7 (4th generation) @ 2,2 GHz
16 GB Ram
Geforce GTX 760
SSD, etc...

For example DEUS EX HR and DOW 2 run on full details without problems.

I followed the instructions carefully.

Maybe you can help me with my issue.

Thanks for your feedback.

No problem, SGSSAA is extremely taxing on performance. So with 4x 4x SGSSAA @1080p the game is being rendered at 4k resolution and then scaled down to fit the screen. You need 780 or better to get playable rates (which I know is ridiculous for an old game). In the next version you won't need it for the armors or femshep faces like you do now. I have added all the mips back in so the textures render normally. The trade off is during the character create menu the N7 textures will be very low res for medium and light femshep, and light male shep, but once in game all armors will show up properly and shimmering is virtually non existent. I don't know why the engine is so wonky but for now it's the best I could do.

There are a few exception textures: Garrus's, Wrex's, and Saren's faces had to be forced to full lod to render in all parts of the game. But they shimmer far less than the N7 armors...so hopefully people will be more pleased with this version.

Weird, I have a 670gtx, used the sgssaa and no real slow downs. And it got rid of the annoying jaggies on the jellyfish tentacles.

I have to say I don't have anything bad to say about this mod. It fixes the only downside of the original mass effect, that is that the textures looked quite low resolution, something I have often noticed (and disliked) when playing through the game. The amazing quality, a lot of painful hard work, and clearly a lot of dedication shown in the creation of this in my mind justifies a full 10 out of 10. You fixed the only thing I did not like about ME1, and I thank you for it. My re-play of the whole…
