Welcome Modders and Mod users,

I'm trying to fix some of the "uglies" in ME1 and give it the polished look the epic story line deserves. So far I have updated/re-textured: Light and Shadow Maps on walls and floors, Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, Wrex, Liara, Saren, Benezia, Udina, Council, Anderson, Joker, Chakwas, Colonists, Scientists, Keepers, Normandy, Mako, many NPC clothings, Geth ship, volus, hanar, elcor, some armors and default character armors including N7 armor (of characters re-textured). This was Acheived by texture editing (up-scaling, re-painting, adding details, adding textures, adding bump maps, and rebuilding normal maps). Finally, but probably my favorite, I made a new Film Grain Texture to replace the muddy Film Grain with a much less obnoxious ME2 "looking" effect. Now you can keep film grain on and still have a crisp picture.

Requests are always welcome :)

Hello, I have a problem. I play mass effect with Origin, and when I´m doing the Mass Effect Bioware configuration tweaks, when I´m going to change the dynamic shadow fix, I only found that options in "BIOEngine.ini" but the "DepthBias, MinShadowResulotion, and MaxShadowResolution" are repeated twice, wich one I have to change? The first one appears in "[Engine.Engine]": "DepthBias=.03, MinShadowResolution=32, MaxShadowResolution=512"
and the second one "[Engine.GameEngine]": "DepthBias=0.030000, MinShadowResolution=32, MaxShadowResolution=512"
Also you should know that my "ShadowFilterQualityBias" is in another section "[SystemSettings]" I have to change it anyways?
Please help me, and a lot of thanks for helping...

This file is located: "x:\Users\xxx\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config"

you need to run the game once for it to be generated. But once you have this is the one you want to edit. The one in the my Documents directory as stated in the quote. I hope this helps.

So I was like...
Hmmm, wonder if ME would be worth a new playthrough after all this time. Would have to get the textures beefed up though....whats this? MEUITM? Meh, I'll try this one, see if it actually does what it says...as if...
download, follow instructions)

And then..I sat bolt upright with OMFG! OMFG! OMFG! going through my head like a stuck record.

You, sir, are an ME god. Now I have to play the whole lot through again.

lol you have provided zero details so I can provide zero help. It is impossible for the mod to make things look worse than before unless you hate the textures. I suggest reading the readme, it contains step by step instructions. Also look at the screenshot section and that is how your game should look give or take the resolution depending on your rig. If you think the screenshots look bad, then I wouldn't use the mod.

Well, as it turns out there's 1 thing I read wrong in the installer. I thought it said it would change the Biogame file, not the Biogame folder. The file is located in the documents section, and the folder in Steamapps.
So, I installed it there, and it seems to work. Hurray! Everything looks great now, even the Spectre weapons.
I've gotta ask though: It didnt seem like you retextured the heavy krogan mercenary armor. But Im not sure. Is there a way to know which armor's have been retextured?

Is there a way to install the Alliance Marine Heavy Armour mod with this mod installed too?

You can perma mod it in using MEExplorer or use Texmod. With Texmod you may need to rename the hashes based on your version of the game. Quickest way to do this is to extract my .tpf using "tpf exctract" (google) and set those files aside for the time being. Now run Texmod in logging mode and run MEUITM modded Mass Effect. Load a save where someone is wearing the heavy onyx male armor and log the textures * you want the diff, spec, and normal map look at my texture you have extracted for a reference if you are unclear. Now check the hash names of the newly logged textures and compare them to the tpf I have provided. If they are different rename the files from my tpf and update the def file with the new hashes so they match the nelwy logged files. Now take the .def file and add the directory of the alliance marine textures to each line so it looks like the following: "0xF3F456A9|C:\Users\Christopher\Documents\Tpf extract\MASSEFFECT.EXE_0xF3F456A9.dds" Once every line contains the directory of the textures, rename the texmod.def file to texmod.log. Now load Texmod into the package build mode and select the def file "texmod.log" and build the new .tpf. It should now load with your modded mass effect.

I have to say I don't have anything bad to say about this mod. It fixes the only downside of the original mass effect, that is that the textures looked quite low resolution, something I have often noticed (and disliked) when playing through the game. The amazing quality, a lot of painful hard work, and clearly a lot of dedication shown in the creation of this in my mind justifies a full 10 out of 10. You fixed the only thing I did not like about ME1, and I thank you for it. My re-play of the whole…
