Welcome Modders and Mod users,

I'm trying to fix some of the "uglies" in ME1 and give it the polished look the epic story line deserves. So far I have updated/re-textured: Light and Shadow Maps on walls and floors, Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, Wrex, Liara, Saren, Benezia, Udina, Council, Anderson, Joker, Chakwas, Colonists, Scientists, Keepers, Normandy, Mako, many NPC clothings, Geth ship, volus, hanar, elcor, some armors and default character armors including N7 armor (of characters re-textured). This was Acheived by texture editing (up-scaling, re-painting, adding details, adding textures, adding bump maps, and rebuilding normal maps). Finally, but probably my favorite, I made a new Film Grain Texture to replace the muddy Film Grain with a much less obnoxious ME2 "looking" effect. Now you can keep film grain on and still have a crisp picture.

Requests are always welcome :)

HMM this is a first of this type of error. The sound fixes a crash but not the ones you have linked in your PM. I run on windows 7 64-bit desktop and windows 8 64-bit surface pro, so I know it should work. Try closing all programs before running the installer, also make sure the torrent client is closed, that may be what is keeping it open. Sounds like some kind of software conflict.

I've done everything as instructed and once meuitm is installed and I start the game after the opening cinematic, as soon as I am walking around on the Normandy, it runs really slow and choppy to the point making it unplayable. My pc specs should be far above what is necessary to run this:
Intel i5 4core
AsusTek SabreTooth Z97 Mark2
24 G RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660
Windows 8.1

I made the executable Large Address Aware etc...
I don't see anyone else reporting the same issues so I don't know what the problem might be or how to fix it??

The sysmptoms sound like you are running out of VRAM, which really shouldn't happen unless you are using a really high resolution 2560x1600 or above, or are using high AA/downsampling settings or Ambient Occlusion settings these could suck up the VRAM.

I built most of the mod a 560 but my resolution was never higher than 1080p so this didn't happen unless I added AA or AO.

I know there are many articles that say VRAM doesn't matter there are also articles that explain why it does. I can say it does in my experience especially with texture mods, and I see both of you have a 660 which is why I bring it up.

However if you are running 1080p and not down-sampling this really shouldn't happen. The only other scenario that I have seen cause frame drops like that would be overheating.

I am sorry I don't have more advice.

I have tested the mod on the following setups:

i7 3770k GTX 560 8GB RAM 1080p with light AO and low AA 50-60FPS

Surface Pro i5 integrated graphics 4GB RAM 720p no AA no AO 30 FPS

17 4970k GTX Titan SLI 16GB RAM 2560x1600 ENB high AO Downsampling from 3620x2263 (anything higher I start seeing some slowdown) 55-60 FPS

Lastly if you are using the ENB I provided, try turning if off it can be very demanding depending on the resolution you are running.

Strangely the issue seems to have fixed itself. I had previously tried a few of the usual troubleshooting checks, reboot, scale down AA etc.. but the problem persisted. Then the other day I figured I'd give it another go and now for some unknown reason the game runs pretty much fine. I get the odd stutter or frameskip here and there and sometimes the dialog cuts itself a little short, but it's rare enough that it's not a huge bother or anything game breaking. Thanks for the reply and
great work on the mod btw, the difference in the level of detail is a big step up!! Glad to be playing now.

I have to say I don't have anything bad to say about this mod. It fixes the only downside of the original mass effect, that is that the textures looked quite low resolution, something I have often noticed (and disliked) when playing through the game. The amazing quality, a lot of painful hard work, and clearly a lot of dedication shown in the creation of this in my mind justifies a full 10 out of 10. You fixed the only thing I did not like about ME1, and I thank you for it. My re-play of the whole…
