Mars Wars

Mars Wars 3 is an Unreal Tournament 2004 modification to remake the classic title, Red Faction. It's a first person shooter, played in gametypes such as DM, CTF, RailArena and many more. Main focus is the gameplay. We're trying as hard as we can to give you the perfect gameflow you're expecting in a high quality mod such as Mars Wars.

The newest version of Mars Wars puts everything onto the next level in MWs era. Online play is much more stable and weapons are absolutely lag-free! In Mars Wars you can expect to experience one of the best FPS-multiplayer experiences ever seen in a mod.

Make no mistake, this mod will be different from other UT2004 mods.
Online- and offline play against fully functional bots!

2new patches are out.. that means, new characters, new weapons, new maps and tons of bugfixes/tweaks!

Just start MWLauncher.exe, located in your MarsWars folder (C:\UT2004\MarsWars).

Hit "UPDATE" and the new patch will install automatically.
Then go and take a look for recent MW servers. ;)

Actually, RED-FROG (The lead worker on the mod) recently announed he'd managed to create monster-specific spawn points.

Perhaps a Mars Wars Defence Invasion gametype is coming.

Well personally, I don't know how much work it is to make weapon hands, but it could be a good eyecandy.
And a single player gametype for Mars Wars can be a good idea, however, I think it requires alot of coding and maybe more gametypes. Like Domination and Bombing Run doesn't really "fit" Mars Wars.

Yep. Singleplayer needs more ideas. Maybe it's be Red Faction vs Ultor global coflict (it's not new, i know) but like RF3 Guerilla with rescue hostages, destroying enemy base, killing the leader? This is concept 3 new types:
-Capture the teammate (hostage) - like VIP mode in Counter strike, or Civilian rescue in Team Fortress on HL1, from enemy base or spec plase in map to friendly base.
-Destroying base - like Renegate multiplayer, or whith destroying "mother-building" (fake geo-mod needed ;)).
-Killing the leader - maybe like Natural Selection? with tactical map and commans for teammates, or like "Ultimate Leader Fighter" with much health, armor and with powerfull unique weapon.

What are you think about this?

Well, I've never played those games, but if I had some "coding skills" I would have done gametypes from Red Faction 2. Like Bagman - you steal a bag and get X score per X seconds by holding the item.

And how about akimbo mutator? In RF2 player can take 2 uzi in both hands, and 2 pistols too.

You planned made all weapons from RF2? How about 2 mutators with it: "RF1 weapons only" and "RF2 wepons only". Thats may be interesting.

Yeah, I'm sorry about the third person.
Has been crippled due to the new death camera in Rev5.
I'll try to get it fixed within the next patch which should be coming very soon.

I might also try to work out the mutators. The bloom mutator wasn't really my intention to add to MW (since it doesn't work properly), but somehow sneaked it's way in. :P Also, muts like "Damn Reload!" need some repairs, some of these just weren't my highest priority yet.

And I've got an stupid idea: can you make mutator "weapon randomizer" in maps? Or this mutator already ingame?

Yes, the RPG mutator works like this:
You'll gain "Experience" when you kill a player/monster.
When you have enough Experience, you'll "level up".
When you level up, you'll gain "StatPoint", with StatPoints you can buy things in the RPG menu (by pressing L). You can also buy "Abilities", just press "Info" next to the Abilities list to see what every Ability do.

There's a mutator called "RandItemPlacement" for UT2004 (does also work with MarsWars). It just places every pickup around the map randomly. It should be somewhere around the internet.

Hmm, that's odd.
You maybe have to configure the keyboard in the "Settings" menu (located in: MW Main Menu -> Settings -> Input -> Configure Controls) and scroll down to UT2004 RPG (it's UT2004 instead for MW for some reason).

Ok I think I know what the problem is.
It looks like there's some missing files in the patch (Rev1to5). There's supposed to be two StaicMesh files to get RPG to work.

It's easy to get them, just search for the UT2004 RPG mutator (version: v2.1 should work with MW).

I used version 2.2. It's works but stats on title screen in not needed because it's different. Strange... Can Mars Wars Team fix it in new patch? And MWrpg mutator too?
