Another mod by AtomicWienerDog. This Mod for Battle for Middle Earth 2 Will put the turn-based game Magic: The Gathering into a RTS type game. By taking the 5 element types in Magic: The Gathering (Red for Mountains, Blue for Water, Green for Forest, Black for Swamp, and White for Plains) and turning them into 5 different teams, each team with a wide array of creatures, and special powers to choose, this RTS is definately not just the "chip off the ol block" type modification. With all new skins, models, powers, units, and a all new way of resource collecion. This new resouce colelction counts down a timer on the map, which slowly increases each time it reaches 0, once the timer reaches 0, you'll get a amount of resources for each land, r resource building, you control. With all the new features, the experienced staff from AtomicWienerDog, and a great community, this mod is definately one to keep an eye on.

The next building for the black team, is known as the Possesed Portal, This building will also be a production building, creating your more advanced troops, wether they be ground based or flying. These troops will be Demons, appropriate for the color. The demons will be strong troops, built solo, that will be able to wreak havoc on the battlefield from either the air or ground.

Possesed Portal

I do apologize for my lack of upgrades recently as work and life has kept me away from doing a lot lately. On a much brighter note, the second building released for Magic: The Elemental Wars will be, and is now, the Graveyard. This building will be where your land based troops, primarily the Zombies, will be created. Also, the researching of upgrades for these units will be here. Ths building will require upgrades to get to the upgrades, for this mod's purposes, now known as Enchantments.

I'm happy, and quite proud, to announce the premier of the first building in Magic: The Elemental Wars, The Mausoleum. This building will be your main building for Black and will be the basis on which you build you base and army around. This building will also be fully responsible for making your special units (Such as Legendary Units) to wreak havoc on your opponents.

Graveyard Mausoleum

The first Unit i'll be releasing is the Honor Guard. The basic foot soldier for White, this unit will be made in legions, and will be the cheapest mana cost of all soldiers for white. They will be able to be upgraded with a single enchantment, which i'll explain in detail in the Magic: The Elemental Wars forums ASAP. They will also use the least amount of Command Points and will be the most expendable. They will not have any special abilities and will be able to rank up, which, i'll also explain how ranks will work in detail in the Magic: The Elemental Wars forum.

The next building to be realeased, also for black, is the Swamp. This building will be your land, which are your resource buldings. It will give you an amount of mana based on how many are built and in what radius.

Upgrades, also known as Enchantments for the purposes of this mod, is the ability to upgrade troop(s) with a single feature. Each team will have multiple upgrades to choose from for certain units, but once a unit is enchanted once, they cannot be enchanted with another enchantment, nor can the previous enchantment be removed from the troop(s). This will add another strategic angle to the game, since once your enchanments are purchased for your particular units, they cannot be undone. You must first rank your side's barrack's type to rank 2 to be able to purchase enchantments. Then, you must upgrade your troops with 1 of the available enchantments. Again, be warned, once your selection for that particular group of units is done, it cannot be reversed. There will be several enchantments per team and each enchantment will help bring out the attack or defensive power of your troops in battle.

Sounds great! I loved the original Z game by the bitmap brothers, which used a control point based resource gathering mechanism. The game maps were relatively small and the action was furious, so if you did not conquer and protect enough control points right in the beginning, you did not have a chance to survive your enemies attack. This mod might have similar qualities. I am just wondering: In Magic the Gathering, one key aspect of being competetive is to have the right balance of resource types and units that can utilize these resources. Will this mod include this aspect? You write that the colors of magic correspond to different teams? Does this mean that you will need to choose in the beginning, which type of resources you will need to get and which types of units you will be able to produce? Will is be possible to go after multiple resources and control multiple races at the same time? How does competition about resources play into the game? If a pure red team fights a pure green team, is there any competition for the resources?
