This is a great mod :D

Though, Might I make a wee suggestion? A few big mods have done this, eliminating the need for additional mods, but Could you consider adding in the Ricks Galaxy version of Bailknights Graphical Mod and GURKOZ - SINSOUNDS?

The good, Non-stack version of the Graphics Mod can be found under Ricks mods, and the SinSounds mod can also be found in Rocks Galaxy, under Mod Links :D

Maelstorm combined with those two mods will make Maelstrom one of the best out there :D

I have actually integrated, optimized and expanded Bailknights Graphical Mod into Maelstrom early on. However, I have been using it for the new races only.

My design philosophy, if you can call it that, is to leave the original races untouched ... a gold standard

Oh? Then will the Graphics mod on it own not cause any incompatibilities? :D

And what did you use for the voices of the new races? They kinda sound like the voices used for Text-to-Speech programs :P

Bailknights Graphical Mod, if updated to Rebellion compatiblity, should be stackable. Likewise, the same for GURKOZ - SINSOUNDS mod (you could just copy the sound files to the sounds folder of Sins).

The voices for the new races are based on TTS voices (lots of them) which have been post-processed. Of course not as good as human voice-overs. However, I have now got a complete new set of voice-overs for the new races ships (human voice-overs) ... which I will release soon. To complete the overhaul, the only voice-overs I need are the announcements for the Trade-Alliance and Norlamins (I think for the Replicators they are fine).

Just finishing events voice-overs for new races, then have a few bugs to fix

Ya know, on a site called Ricks Gallery, there is a Rebellion graphics mod that you could integrate into Maelstrom :D

So does this mod just add the new races or does it also build upon the existing ones? Such as new ships/structures/research?

3 New races with their own unique buildings, research, and ships. Also adds new planets, but a bunch are broken in this recent version. But there are still a lot that are not broken and are colonizable.
