The 'clouds' and 'particles' you see around the star are a snap shot in time. In actual fact they expand, fade and then 'pulse' again. Hence Pulsar.

New Stars of Maelstrom

The Cosmic Lighthouse.

A pulsar is a highly magnetized neutron star that emits a beam of electromagnetic radiation as it rotates.

Pulsars emit a beam of electromagnetic radiation. The radiation beam creates a lighthouse effect that damages any ship in its path.

Graviton particles are ejected from the Pulsar in intense waves which interfere with sub-light engines of our ships. Ship maneuvering, thrust and velocity are all affected.
