The Maelstrom Mod introduces three new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.

What does up and down have to do with the front and the rear?
If up is down, and down is up, depending on the rotation that established this (going from up=up to up=down), front can be rear, and thus rear can be front.
Truly, the only real alignment in space is localized to one's ship. There is no global alignment unless one is established, and even then, such a thing is still localized to something else, and only applicable in specific regions of space.
