The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.
New Stars of Maelstrom
Supernova Remnant.
After these stars have finished burning their nuclear fuel, they undergo a supernova explosion. The central region of the star collapses under gravity forcing protons and electrons to combine to form neutrons.
Extremely intense gravity waves are continuously radiated from the Neutron Star surface. These waves interfere with sub-light engines.
Huge numbers of neutrinos are emitted by this star. These particles carry away so much energy from the stars core that the star dies within a few thousand years.

well it could die and be replaced with a wormhole or black hole whichever you choose.
Actually, it would just spin slower and slower until it cooled down so that it was no longer luminous (this happens when the star slows down enough so that it rotates on its axis once ever three seconds). For a neutron star to form a black hole, it has to acquire mass from an outside source - such as a nearby Red Giant. Perhaps if it was possible to write a script that caused the neutron star to spin slower and get dimmer over time...
As cool as it is that you know that ... im sorry to say that i don't quite care about the science of it. I was making an astethic suggestion.
I was looking through all these images and found this. I like you Neutron Star better than the Rebellion one.
Also like your Pulsar and Black Hole more! At least your Black Hole doesn't damage ships. DON'T get any ideas!
