The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.

New Worlds of Maelstrom
This planet was bombarded by a planet destroying weapon from a Ancient race many millenniums ago. While parts of the planets crust and core remain the mantle of the planet has been ejected into space.
Most of this planets mantle has been ejected into nearby space, as a result passing ships can easily collect the rich resources that were once buried.
I feel like if this actually happened the crust would just collapse. Still interesting though.
Yeah, it seems a bit unrealistic.. the crust would certainly collapse..
I'm sure you guys could think of a weapon or scenario that would cause this damage.
you could at parts of metal that sorta hold it togather to keep people from thinking of the lack of realism.

Interesting design of the planet
that is very cool and neat
Could add some mantle spilling into space affect or rings of rock from whats left of the mantle
Its inside - between the crust and core, though you can't see it clearly from the picture above.
