The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

Wow, really cool, wasn't expecting this at all. Way to mix it up. Millenia, do you guys have a fixed list of weapons that are going into the mod or are you just picking and choosing as you go? If you do have a list, could we know roughly how many weapons will there be and are you replacing all vanilla weapons? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Also, are you planning to include the Rex that you put in FNV?

Well, we have a soft list of weapons but if I come across good models I can use (like this one here) and it fits in, I'll probably throw it in as well.

As for the Rex, it needs animations, if KF can get it done then yes.

Dae, how will you get the sounds for this weapon!? It's not a very common gun right? I'm waiting...

Gotta say that I see some imperfections on it, but who am I to complain? Prolly because it's my all time fav. assault rifle and I worked my *** off in BF3 to get to it.

But ... the real question here is, will we get a med-kit *** well? ;p

Actual AEK shooting:

I think the only way is to compare to AK-74 and modify the sound of AK if needed. AEK rifles are rare even in Russia not to mention that somebody could take sound samples.

I most likely won't be able to get my hands on an AEK because, as you said, it isn't very common. I might be able to do some recording in Arizona at a facility that has one, though, in the future.

The most important thing will be the mechanical cycling noises to differentiate it from other AKs. I have plenty of AKs I can get my hands on, aside from the one I own, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'll also have different audio based on whether the player is using the 5.45 or 7.62 chambering.

tbh, bad company 2 weapons suck, those are just meshes without proper normal maps and some really quick textures.

Well, BC2 have teh model of prototype AEK971 version, and bf3 and arby26's are modern AEK971 with foldable stock and new foregrip... still yeah, bc2's normal maps and textures are bad.

This i can agree on, BF3 is an AAA title people, and in contradiction to the title, it doesn't feature 8/11k poly weapon meshes like some mods for games like CSS do, because they have a budget to stay close to (as in performance not money wise).

Ha ha, I was just about to say the same. Your texture blows that BF3 one out of the water, the model has very little to do with it. Slap the BF3 texture on the model being used here and it'll still look like crap.

Really? I thought it was ALWAYS about the budget, but then again, i'm no game artist, only a modder. And IDK what FB2 can handle, but I know that's it's supposed to be +2 times that what stalker's xray can handle.

Funny, I really thought they'd have to take the "lower" end pc's into account with the creation of models etc.

maybe they just didnt have time, artist themselves dont need to be necesarilly bad artist. In bf3 there are shitloads of weapons and IMO if they would make everything in high quality, it would take lots of time, or would be expensive since they would have to employ lots of artists

Think how many millions they're making off a game like this any you sit and talk about taking time or something being expensive? Come on... Think of the work we are watching Millenia do here, there's absolutely no excuse for the sloopy work of artists working on games like BF3.
