The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

Don't forget to ERASE your OLD CONFIG FOLDER before installing, some people report crashing while trying to do the Nimble quest.

Minor Bug: When Seriy dies it doesn't update the Strelok stash quest (no big, you can just talk to mole to get it working again).

Sep 21 2009, 10:18pm Anchor

Whenever I try to give the flash drive to the trader during the Nimble Quest, during the conversation with the trader, my game crashes.

EDIT: Never mind, fixed when I deleted my config file.

I've noticed that the sleeping bag does actually work.... kind of.  It's not completely broken.  Regardless of the amount of time you choose to sleep, it only moves game time forward one hour, while it will move your clock forward the amount of time that you chose.  That seems to be what's going on, anyway.  Sleeping in only one hour increments has got me through two nights in a row now.

XR_3DA.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "f:\steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl\bin\xrLUA.dll" at 0023:008E105B

Reuploaded.

ERASE CONFIG FOLDER FIRST! Or Nimble quest will screw up.

I've found with the recent patches the sleeping bag works as intended.

Loving this mod and it's giving my GTX295 a hard time!
I prefer the darker mood than vanilla stalker.
This is how the game should have been made.
Although I do prefer alot of 2009 complete's textures like the road texture.
These textures look as if you are very low to the ground.
I have noticed that the statis pictures do not match the new character designs like the trader at the very start of the game.
The static pic is of the old trader.
Do you see the final release happening on the 25th?

Btw, did anyone notice that some sounds are very... grainy... at the end?
Like the COLT 's firing sound (it dims down into a crackle if you have headphones on or your speakers on loud)

And some textures WARP when you get too close to them (Under the bridge in Cordon, lean/walk into the pipe (the big red one) and the textures'll seem to stretch, this is one of the most obvious ones)

And sometimes for unobvious reasons, STALKERS behind the bridge area (when first starting ofcourse) will raid the bridge and clear the path.
Not that it's not a nice feature, but you'll just miss a shitload of loot.

Also, some random encounters will kill off important characters (Fox just died on me because a random pig/dog strolled in and slaughtered him before I had a chance to heal him)
And sometimes it'll be handy too, like a random friendly stalker strolling around -doing the quest FOR you-... heh!

Fox also says he will give you a unique AUTOMATIC handgun when you give him a scientific medkit, but, you get a beretta 92FS, with the comment it's the only one in the zone (Fuck no!)

That's about it.

Hey, I've played this mod, it's cool and such, but ehm. Excuse me, NO zombies? Could anybody please MSG me how to add the slow walking (with NO GUN) zombie into this mod? I would appreciate that. Regards

Sep 22 2009, 6:43pm Anchor

Any chance of degrading armour, food that doesn't heal you and bandages that just stop/slow the bleeding and if anyone can remember what to alter in the user.ltx to stop the shadows following you at the edges of the screen, had it somewhere but as usual lost it .

Gotta say when the bug's are ironed out this will be a superb mod

To Gobbi and anyone getting 'shadow artifacts':

r2_sun_near_border 1

So far I really like the mod, it's just some textures are either vanilla, or horrible.
I'm considering merging the 'photo realistic zone' textures. I'll let you know if it works (most likely will).

Figured I'd post a few things that made me go "wat"

a couple of artifacts are either insanely over-powered or are extremely worthless to equip. From what I've experienced:

Thorn: Can't recall exactly, but I believe they had +3000% (should it be +300%?) to bleeding. Ouch, hemophilia?
Slime: -4000% (should it be -400%?) to bleeding. I never bleed to death. Makes bandages worthless since I can usually wait it out and just about any bleeding stops in 10 - 15 seconds.

May be a few more artifacts that I haven't come across yet.

Also, Dwarf hand inventory descriptions are missing. Instead, you get a placeholder: "mutant_burer_hand_description"

Vintorez: The inventory icon for this gun shows a scope regardless of whether you have one on there or not... And when you DO add one on there, the scope in the inventory just doubles up onto the scope already in the icon. So you get a "double scope" so to speak.

And lastly, unless I'm wrong, the sight on the FAMAS feels a little... off. I don't think the bullets are going where the sight is indicating.

Sep 23 2009, 12:39am Anchor

If you begin playing, hit escape to go to the menu, and put your mouse above "Resume game," there is an invisible button there that the little gear markers go to, but you cannot click it.

Sep 23 2009, 2:46am Anchor

you cannot attach pso-1 scope to SVD, rendering the gun useless. A sniper rifle without a scope. Genius.

Ah shit.

I started a game without the patch, but never made it to Bar. I eventually patched with the Bar FPS fix, then went to Bar, and had no problems. Needless to say I figured everything was alright.

Now that I've been to Bar, played for 5 hours, and gone back, Bar is laggy as hell, even though I patched before visiting. Is the only remedy to start a completely new game with the patches?

Not sure if this is a bug or if it's intended, but:

There are an awful lot of bloodsuckers in the Wild Territory. When escorting Kruglov, I got him to the end near Yantar and completed that mission. After that, he walked off towards Yantar but never did quite make it because there are 3 bloodsuckers and that pack of dogs that attacked us... So now, even with all that work I did in protecting him, he just died because of some crazy bloodsucker spawns. There's no way I can protect him against 3 bloodsuckers and a pack of dogs, so I'm pretty stumped with the feasibility of this task, so I guess I'll have to let him die. Once again, not sure if it's a bug that so many bloodsuckers are supposed to spawn on your first visit to the map or not. If it's intended, then a lot less people are going to be able to keep Kruglov alive.

Edit:

Crisis averted, somewhat. The bloodsuckers, even if Kruglov died, were extremely overpowered to handle with the weapons I was currently sporting since there were 3 of them and they all took more than an entire load of buckshots to the face to take down for each. I had to use my RPG though.

Anyway, two more things worth mentioning:
I know the economy is screwed up, but one thing in particular I've noticed is that after coming out of the Dark Valley, Sidovorich was selling equipment that put the Barkeep's to shame. He had RPG ammo, a desert eagle, etc. Isn't he supposed to sell somewhat low-tiered equipment? Lastly, the patch doesn't actually fix the bar lag. After downloading and installing, the bar area started lagging again even after I had fixed it prior to the patch. I went into the trade_dolg.ltx file and saw that the numbers were back to their bugged state, so I fixed them and reloaded the save I had prior to installing.

If anyone wants the file I fixed for myself, here's a link. Replace the [DOT] parts with actual dots. Us new members can't post links.
www[DOT]megaupload[DOT]com/?d=EU8X6O08

Just extract that into gamedata\config\misc and let it overwrite the file. Hopefully that'll be the last we'll hear of that.

Loading any save from the bar area will cause the game to crash. I have installed cumulative patch #3, posted on front page several days ago.
Crash occurs on any save from the checkpoint where the dogs are being held off and further into the map (ie: near arena, near actual bar, etc)

Loading a save which from the edge of the map near the abandoned truck has been successful, however.

Crash msg:

Exception Reason
XR_3DA.exe caused BREAKPOINT in module "C:\Program Files\THQ\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl\bin\xrCore.dll" at 001B:017B7CB5, xrDebug::backend()+165 byte(s)

Happens about a dozen or two seconds into the synchronizing client stage in the loading process.

Wow, thank you so much for posting that fix. You just saved me from starting over after 15+ hours of play. [EDIT: not true :(]

In case anyone is confused at to what exactly causes the bar crash/lag problem, it's this:

trade_dolg.ltx was causing the Duty trader to DROP his weapons (about 20 for each weapon he sold) everytime you came back to the bar area, either through changing levels or loading a save.

Over time, this amasses a LARGE amount of guns because of how central the bar is and how often you go in and out. In turn, this causes the physics engine to overload because of the sheer number of guns, making problematic framerates and saving/reloading issues. The fix I uploaded simply changed the number of guns he had to a smaller amount so he doesn't drop them because he's overloaded. Unfortunately, this won't fix games that were already plagued by the bug because the file I fixed will only STOP him from dropping MORE guns, it won't remove the guns already there. So unless you can figure out a way to get rid of the guns, you're going to have to start over or load a save from before he started dropping his guns (most likely a save where this was fixed before or a save before you reached the bar area)

Actually, it won't save my game. I'm trying to figure out how I can get those guns out of there. Do you know where he drops those guns?

If you haven't gotten far into the game you'll have to sneak into the Duty base. Not sure how you're going to get OUT though without Duty noticing, but anyway:

Sneaking in:
Go the entrance of the Duty base (where the guys won't let you in.) Facing the entrance, look on your right. There is a tower with a ladder. Climb up the sets of lader and go onto the roof of the building adjacent to it. Walk all the way to the far edge. You will see a drop and a roof on the other side. Jump over to the roof, then drop down (not into the pit that you just jumped over though!). Walk over to the building with the windows, and you'll see.

Normal way in:
Go towards the entrance of the Duty base (where the guys used to block your from going in) and simply turn right. In the building ahead is where the trader is.
