The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

One of our Goals is to have the most impressive array of weapons any game has seen to date.

Over 80 weapons (Not all Shown Here) compiled from the community. Many of which textured by our texture artist, Millenia.  Plenty of high quality models to be found, and some of which of a lower quality soon to be replaced. We're constantly trying to improve our Arsenal.

Every weapon has been animated by KingFriday. Weapons are equipped via shoulder holster, have natural idle animations, no improper clipping, and smooth transitions and a strong feeling of inertia, along with a consistency and quality unlike any other animations before.

Having a myriad of weapons on your playground certainly isn't a bad thing. However the way in which they behave is key. Ballistics tout a key balance between realistic scaling, balanced placement and location, and rewarding and satisfying gunplay. Panzerdraco, our weapons expert, is configuring a weapon's base that will bring sanity to this mess of weapons.

The picture that says "USP .45" above it looks more like a Walther P99 to me, though I could be wrong.
Those weapons are really really nice. I like the fact that you brought weapons in the game like the PPSh or the FNC.
A question though: The SVD and VAL don't have a scope mounted on them, so does that mean you can put "real" sniper scopes on them?

Can I suggest making a distant view of the weapons like in STALKER Lost Alpha mod? It looks and feels really new and fresh, you can actually see the trigger and at least half of the butt-stock as well as the second the hand. But of course the work put in this is overwhelming, REALLY GREAT JOB!

I'm just wondering, why is is that most mods that change the weapon skin make the guns completely black? Are ALL guns like this, or is it just really common?

Well... I served S.Korean Army for 2 years.
At least my gun(K-2, which is improved and modified version of AR-15) was dark gray, without any metallic gloss.
But the old ones were bit brighter and had some glossy surfaces.

Also the most of other gun in real pictures are not that black colored.
But who cares? Black guns looks cool! :)

Most guns are flat black. I've never held a gun, and probably shouldn't cuz I'll immediately turn into a gun nut, but I paintball, and I can tell you that as soon as I see a glint I'm suspicious, if I don't immediately open fire. Mask lenses give targets away really easy. I would assume the same concept would apply to closer-quarters battle, so it makes sense to make then unnoticeable, and since black is the darkest of all colors (ie it reflects very little of the light that hits it), it makes sense that it's sort of the universal camoflauge.

Weapons made from synthetic materials generally are black. Not sure what the actual reason is for this, though black is generally a less striking colour than grey/white/red, so it has the camouflage factor.
Its a more neutral colour too, so likely to appeal to more people aesthetically.

SalmonGod Jan 30 2010, 3:25am says:

I've recently studied copyright law in school and even engaged in a little bit of activism on the subject. I think both of you are wrong on different points.

1. An author of a creative work has legal copyright ownership of it as soon as it is recorded in a fixed format, and there's even debate as to whether a hard drive can be legally considered a fixed format, though I believe it generally holds up while the world waits for government beaurocracy to get around to modifying a few words of legal verbage.

2. #1 doesn't guarantee you anything. If somebody violates your copyright, it's up to the legal owner of the copyright to take notice and legal action. Once the case is in court, the burden of proof is on the prosecutor. They must prove that they legally own the copyright. This is why a legal process for filing copyright with the government exists. It basically enables you to auto-win in court. It also costs money. The poor man's option is to mail a copy of the work to yourself in an envelope as soon as it's finished, and then you have an officially government sealed, named, and dated document to present in court.

3. Transferring ownership of copyrights does require legal documentation, but not much and only if you intend to hold on to your rights to that work. If you offer your work to others without any explicit agreement, then you are basically letting go of any rights you had. You must also specify exactly which rights are being transferred (right to reproduce, right to modify, right to distribute, etc). On the internet, people usually use a simple copyright template such as the ones provided by Creative Commons.

SalmonGod Jan 30 2010, 3:26am replied:

4. So if you willingly gave your work to the Arsenal compilation without specifying any conditions, you were failing to defend your rights and allowing the distributors of that work free reign over yours. Whether you knew what you were doing or not wouldn't matter in court. Judges will coldly state "ignorance of the law is no excuse." The Arsenal team is not to blame for their interpretations of a vague agreement.

5. If someone else downloads Arsenal mod and reads "These weapons are free for use however you please." Then it's legally safe for anyone to assume that the distributor of that Arsenal download knows what they're talking about, and if their written statements are false, then it's on them. If the Arsenal documents ask for credit if you use their work, but don't give the names of individual authors, then it's also safe to assume that credit simply needs to be given to the compilation. It may be a really nice thing to do, but somebody like Holden has no assumed obligation to track down every individual author of every individual work in a whole compilation that is offered in a unified package with a blanket statement of "free to use".

6. The internet modding scene is an anarchistic clusterfuck of casually shared content, and when you put your work out there you should assume as a matter of common sense that things like this are going to happen unless you go to some lengths to make sure otherwise. People who put hundreds of hours of work into a project and offer it for free online are generally nice people who will try to give credit where it's due, but will fail once in a while and there's no way around that. Appearing out of nowhere and being insulting was a completely unreasonable way to go about this. If you had just said "Hey I think that's my model. Here's some reason you should believe me. Please mention me in your documentation." then I'm sure Holden would have been decent about it and everything would have been fine from the beginning.

The model creator is not a douche. He's looking out for number 1. It's all too common on the internet for people to steal others' work and claim it as their own. As an artist, with many friends who are also artists, I know this all too well.

In response to SalmonGod, I think part of the problem is 1.5 doesn't come with any documentation. No credits are given to anyone, anywhere. Which implies that Holden is trying to take credit for every single file, song, model, etc. in the entire mod regardless of whether or not he made it. Now if I didn't already know this wasn't intentional I would have called Holden out for being a thief, or another equally-descriptive term for what people do when they steal things and try to pretend they made them..

Moral of this story? When making mods, it's usually a good idea to give credit where credit is due. Otherwise you'll have random people coming in and ******** down your neck regardless of whether or not they can actually have anything done about it.

Great weapons, but when I saw them something looked off. Now that I think of it, the problem is that they all look BRAND new... They have no scratches or any kind of damage on them. (Which is odd, because everything else in the zone is corroded and old) Other than that, the graphics look even better than STALKER Complete 2009!

Three complaints, albeit from before 1.1 was released:

The fast-firing AKm was replaced with an RK-95, which would be COOL...except the Army's AK-107s rape it up the *** for breakfast. It was, narratively speaking, supposed to be Strelok's badass all-killing gun, at least until you got the VSS. Which leads into my second complaint:

The MP5 is over-powered and description-less. It's literally better than the AK-47 and EVERY SINGLE OF ITS VARIANTS. It'd be fine if that crate at the start of the garbage didn't set you for LIFE on ammo for it, which also leads me into my final complaint:

The Viper-5 special, which takes 9x18 ammo is gone, replaced by a regular MP5. What the ****?

I got some questions.
1. For most of the rifles, will be additional scopes? (i.e. Red-dot, EOTech, etc.,)
2. Will the Steyr AUG come with the original scope?
3. Will the SPAS 12/Benelli M3 be semi-automatic or pump-action?
4. Can you remove the iron sights on the M4A1 in exchange for a scope? (The scope attached to the sights would look strange, just like the scoped Groza.)
5. This should be posted somewhere else but, does the hand skins change when you change suits? (Just like CoP)
That's probably most of the questions I asked, hopefully.
Thanks in advance.

BTW
This mod is fantastic, this rocked my friggin' socks off.

This must suck so much with all these weapons! Btw there isn't even Beretta, my favourite pistol, which is in Oblivion Lost. Go for the newest version of OL if you want a better gameplay and go to Complete if you are playing STALKER for the 1st time and have a powerful PC. This mod is not stalkerish at all...
