Would like to advice watching in fullscreen and in HD. :D The video compression eats up the effect quite a lot..

I have been paying attention to your optical camouflage work, but seeing this in motion has the best effect, I must admit. Although, I think you might went over the line here, this OpticCamouflage is very powerful! haha :) That is total invisibility! Like in the movie Ghost in the shell. Nice work Goat! Can rain expose the location of the wearer?

The effect is a little more visible on screen! :D Video compression eats a lot out of it since its just noice to the algorithm. The grainy effect is a lot sharper for real.

I do get what you mean it i being powerful though and It should be! The "simulation" aspect of our concept demands it to be viable piece of equipment and no military organization would use such tech if it was visible. :D

In certain game engine related conditions the effect is a lot more visible though, so in that way Im certain that it balances out. For instance it works poorly with smoke. Might have something to do with particle effects altogether and thus it becomes just another curiosity one can find on the battlefield.

Rain could perhaps be made to affect it too, should not be too complicated and quite likely it will be implemented. Also I was thinking it might warm up a little over (long) time so it would lose its heat neutrality on prolonged use.

Im sure though that it will fit into our gamemode as special loot item! And perhaps others mission makers can make some use of it too.

I kinda like it where its at right now, I don't think it should be completely invisible otherwise it would be impossible to fight against people with this.

I think more of a halo active camouflage would be great where its possible to see the outline of the enemy if you payed attention enough, but still allowing the camo user to sneak up on unsuspecting players.

Really though its up to you to figure out how to balance it, otherwise this mod is coming along very nicely and can't wait for the next release.

As far as I know this is pretty much how far Armas material shaders can be stretched in this matter.

The shader in question is not actually used in game anywhere else but on the VR dummies and the effect now is achieved by heavily misusing it. :D

I shelled out $1,600 for a computer that could run ArmA 3, haven't touched it since. Looking to you to change that, no pressure!

Haven't touched ArmA 3, I mean, not the computer, I typed this up on it.

Description

Extensive experimenting with Arma materials and shaders has proven The effect we want to produce to be out of our reach due how the materials handle with static objects (where it works) and men and vehicles (where it seems not to work as we intend).

This is first testrun on alternative method of applying the effect on moving man with still keeping the silhouette somewhat intact.

I dare say with some honing this could provide quite nice optical camouflage effect.
