The perspective is a bit off, but the aerial perspective is a really nice touch, gives weight to this mech (by the way drop shadows give full weight though). Anyhow the design is great. The overall design and the parts are having the attention of a true mechanical constructor's mind. Lots of interesting desing elements: traces of cold-forging, nice hydraulics, gears, panels etc, while having a unique sci-fi appearance. That is why your designs are so lovable.

Thanks man! I quite proud of how I've thought the ammo feed would internally inside the shoulder and along the arm to the wrist weapon. I'm pretty sure it could work quite well with the arm twisting around.

This being the first iteration of the idea lot of things will probably change. :D The shape of the head and front of the torso are following the visual style of their faction pretty well but the arm and leg mechanics need polishing. Also as I wrote I gotta go deeper into the internals and figure out what goes on in there and how mobile the torso is.

I still don't understand how the elbow bends...

ok so it really doesn't XD

I find your lack of bending elbow disturbing.

well it does bend.. its just a little weird idea, the round part before the joint rotates the upper arm along its axis and the double join does rotate it. so in this position it rotates sideways. It needs some redesigning. :D

But then your ammo strips is torn when the arm section beneath the shoulder rotates... Not very efficient mechanically speaking...

I think I imagined it would bend.

But there most certainly may be flaws in the initial concept.

Yeah I don't think robots conceptors made their machines work in one day xD

Please don't misunderstand me, this was more to tease you than a real negative review. It is honnestly an awesome design you've got there, and I really admire all the patience you must have to draw something like this, knowing I'm lazy as f*ck when it comes to conceptual drawings (that's why I do not draw concepts much) :D

Oh no no, its all good! :D

I've always liked drawing though with all the 3D I've been doing lately i've drawn a lot less and it was a nice change but I did feel a bit rusty..

Gotta try to make some time for old hobbies too. :D

Thats pretty cool, however, have you considered adding bigger walkers? This mods scale is so big, and a big walker wouldnt be out of context, for instance :

Dont you think this Would fit the mods setting pretty well?

Well we do consider it. Big *** robots are awesome! We have not really ruled them out, but justifying the size is hard with believable arguments as we try to keep some sort of realistic-ish feel to our concept.

Walking robots in general have good arguments against them why they would not be feasible and huge machines have even more. Can they be fast enough or well armored enough to survive while they are so big targets and so on.

We of course can ignore all of them for awesomeness sake, like we do already in some parts as we have fusion powered walking tanks.. :D But we are yet to decide where to draw the line with this.

Also the are game engine limitations on this kind of machines. Our walkers are already put together in very hacky way and they have their issues with collision already. Larger robots just might not be doable in Arma.

So far our combat walkers like the WK-209 are about 9-10 meters tall standing, these single seated units would perhaps be 5-6 meters and we might try out something above 10 meters too. But while really cool, huge robots just might not have the strategic value we try to give all our machines.

Have you thought about making quad-walkers?

yes we have. Though we will work on the two legged ones first and try out more legs when everything is working.

Description

Something from the drawingboard!

Concept for "B-1" designated single seated humanoid walker.

I've actually drawn the torso, arm and leg separately but shopped them together to show what it could look like as a whole.

The legs and arms don't have armor drawn to them as I've been thinking on all the joint mechanics they would need. Have to do the torso as armorless internal version too to figure out what kind of skeleton I want it to have and how much mobility it could allow. (and how much torso mobility would it actually need)
