Oh my, your designs are so epic, I like the "GOAT" acronym. But I don't know if it would really be usable in real life, especially because of the recoil and the flash/smoke generated by the cannons...

By the way, will these high-tech helmets have all electronic vision modes (FLIR and NV) ?

In real life I doubt it could work, but since it fictional tech we have some room for imagination. :D

These battle suit helmets are more directly connected to the whole armor that absorbs some of the recoil and I try to make the design have other recoil dampening apparatus too, so it at least looks believable.

Im also thinking of lovering the guns a bit, but thats just for cosmetic reasons. These battle armors are pretty heavy and they make the wearer much taller (imposing figure) the wearers head is snugly safe inside the neck piece and actual eyes are just above the neck line and the helmet is mostly sensor and electronics.

The helmets are supposed to have at least nv on them and most likely all military variants have some form of thermal vision. Arma has quite many different modes so we can use different modes on different helmets and factions.

Arma may have some issues with man characters and other vision modes, but Im quiet sure we can script them in.

Do you have laser in your universe ? Because actually it would be bad-*** if the guns shoot lasers. This way there is no recoil, and the horns can contain batteries and stuff like that. ;p

We do, but not really in this size. most energy weapons are still quite huge and mounted in vehicles or static emplacements.

There will be some experimental hand held energy weapons, but so far we've planned them to be much larger.

I would look into the AA-12 recoil dampening system since the AA-12 has little to no recoil and would be easier on the soldier. Though I still believe that is a lot of weight on the neck, at least without supports.

Than was a great idea! Did not remember AA-12 had such low recoil. What I gathered, it has a extra long spring that dampens the recoil but unfortunately I don't have enough length in the guns to have that. It got me thinking though that it is fairly simple mechanism and hydraulics or some sort of magnetic dampener could do the trick. Also the helmet is supported by the battle suits artificial muscle structure, so im certain that with little refining I can write up believable functionality for the guns.

Then you got all bases covered. :)

I think Im going to reinforce the neck a bit more for this helmet. Have to be careful not to over do it though. :D

It may have been designed after some ancient artifact. Who knows what the engineer has been thinking. :D

Its an interesting concept and so long as you make something up as to how the helmet would deal with the recoil and not break someone's head or neck off with a reasonable response would be good idea.

I do have some ideas how to counter/reduce recoil enough to make it look viable but have to make it so that it looks ok without moving parts.

In game it might not have recoil at all due to this being highly beyond normal Arma functionality, although it might be possible to make and trigger an animation that slightly tilts the head/torso when fired.

Also Im thinking it cant have very high rate of fire so that may help make it work in believable manner.

We will make special weapons like this optional, if someone wants to play without them.

Brilliant concept! However the direction of the bullets in the magazine is quite suspicious for me. Shouldn't you want to feed the chamber with bullets inversely? Not to mention the possible location of the receiver, because i can't see any material at the back of the helmet. I rush to add: I would like to see this concept as a reality, because it's to damn good of an idea to let it go to waste.

The magazine has a feeder part that flips the bullet 180 degrees. The bullets are inversed so that more of them can be fitted in magazine. I first tried them other way around, but didn't like how much space got wasted. (since the mag is already unconventional I thought why not add a little more extra to it)

I have not yet started the back of the helmet and there are many things yet to be added and I have to make proper parts for the guns too. Also it perhaps looks too kind as it is, gotta see if I can make it more menacing. :D

Im 99% sure we can make it work, so it will find its way in game!

(if it becomes too OP it will be my personal Admin/Dev helmet >8D not pay to win but dev to win)

I shouldn't write that comment. :) You think of everything! I don't know where are you coming from, but this mod's artwork, and hereby I mean style and design is very mature.

Im always glad to answer your questions. Its good get the ideas and concepts out in the open since I tend to forget to write them down and they linger somewhere in the edge of my thoughts. This way they are put down in writing. :D

I thank you for your kind words! Our team has collective scifi enthusiasm for about 50 years and its results are seen here. We want to build believable scifi with a dash of humor and homeage to all whom come before us.

Description

Something different I've been tinkering with on the side.

This is a concept for a assault/combat helmet that has been equipped with Ground Offensive Assault Technology, which basically means improved and semi automated target acquisition systems and personal defense/offense unit in the form of dual small caliber weapons.

Now this is in concept stage and may not even work in Arma, but its something I have wanted to model for a while now. In game this would work as a sort of an turret that fires where player looks at, automatically or by command.
